abuse@cox.net
I'm getting e-mails from a "Cox Customer Safety" address, "abuse@cox.net" claiming that my computer has been exposed to the Alureon/TDSS Virus and that I need to either call a number or click on a link to fix it.
Is this warning legit? I wonder because the list of e-mail addresses includes one I haven't had in a while.
Thanks for the help!

Looks legit. I would give them a call. See here for a good webpage on troubleshooting the issue. Seems like there are some false negatives though.

I believe the emails you have received from abuse@cox.net are legit. The number included in the email, 800-753-6085, is indeed the number to the Cox Network Security department. Please give them a call at your earliest convenience! Let us know if you have further questions.
