Why I do not see 300MG with SB6183 on Gigablast service?
I have SB6183 that is capable of 680MB easy. I switched to 1G service. While I wait for the 1G modem, I expect to see 680MB on the current modem. Why I see no change from 150MB service. Why? Tech support on chat is useless.1.5KViews0likes3Comments- 1.2KViews0likes2Comments
Upgraded Premier to Ultimate, SB6141 to SB6183. Speed went down!
I recently upgraded to Ultimate (300down), and got a refurbished SB6183 16x4 modem to be able to get the speeds up. I was getting about 80down on Premier before the switch on my SB6141, but when I installed and activated the SB6183, I was only getting about 30down! I called and talked to tech support, and they didn't know what the issue was. I decided to return that modem and got a new 6183 instead in case the refurb was bad. Installed/activated it today, and got a Cat 6 cable to go to my router (E1200), and I'm still only getting about 40-50 down, sometimes as low as 25. Upload seems fine, from 25-35. It looks like I'm bonding to 16 channels down, which is good. I'm at a loss. A tech on the phone said it could take a few days for it to get up to speed, but it still seems wrong. I tried hardwiring to a laptop, and only got a marginal bump in speed. Was going to set up a technician appointment, but they said it could be $75 -- but said they won't know till the tech comes, because it's the tech who decides if it's my fault or not, basically. Ugh. Any ideas? I have a retail SB 6183 and I see issues in the eventlog as well as what I think are errors on one of the channels. Do I need to report this to cox and have this investigated? Recently we've been having an issue every few weeks where the modem won't issue a DHCP address to my router, even after power cycling multiple times. A call to the automated cox troubleshooter results in a modem reset and then it works again for a few weeks and then we go through the same process to get it going again. I've considered just getting another modem (Netgear CM600-100NAS) but if the issue is with my wiring or at the head end that obviously wont help. Oh, and as a totally unrelated side note... when is cox going to add two factor authentication to their email???3.3KViews0likes4CommentsARRIS SURFboard SB6183 DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem
Why doesn't COX of Wichita Kansas not fully support all the downstream channels of this modem? I was fortunate enough to have them upload the latest software (SB6183-9.2.0.0-GA-04-37-NOSH) and the modem went from 4 to 8 downstream bonded channels. If COX doesn't fully support this modems full capabilities - 16 Downstream Channels - then they should not recommend this modem for their networks.2.5KViews0likes1CommentSB6183 only using two channels
I swapped modems out this morning and upgraded to a SB6183 from a SB6121. Speeds cut in half. There were no wiring changes, just a equipment swap. I checked the hardware status page and am only showing two channels being used. Is there a way to request a firmware push from the Cox servers and ensure that everything on my account is set up for DOCSIS 3.0?2.6KViews0likes3CommentsMoto Arris 6183 Event log

I need my modem set to 16x4 channel. 16 download and 4 upload. Currently I am getting 92 mbps download 7 upload and have the COX ULTIMATE Internet plan.I have read numerous cox forums regarding a manual setting be placed by a cox tech and the setting saved and sent to my modem. Can someone help me?!? I have been on the phone with numerous Cox employees not knowing what I was asking for them to do and was told to just unplug the router or they manually reset it without adding the proper channel adjustment. #ColleenD from cox if you are out there PLEASE HELP!!2.1KViews0likes1CommentIf you have a SB6183 running slower with just 4 channels (seen at http://192.168.100.1) you can get full speed and 8 channels back
See also (locked) thread: Only getting max download of 33 Mbps with new DOCSIS 3 Motorola SB6183 16channel modem and Premier upgrade It took over a week to get to the right folks in support, but eventually the above forum post, mentioned to the @CoxHelpperson I was Twitter DM'ing, made all the difference. See also: TinkerTry.com/sb6183 Hoping this forum post can help avoid some early adopter pains for other Cox customers who bought a SB6183. Let's hope they add the self-install menu option for this modem soon, so that proper provisioning would be painless.9.8KViews0likes5Comments
