Cox Degrades Signals and Prohibits Cable Box Resets
As soon as Cox went from analog to digital the degradation of reception has steadily gotten worse while they continue to up prices by 8 - 12% per year - supposedly "upgrading" their "infrastructure". SYMPTOMS: Black screen, no audio with a displayable info bar. This went from occasional on one channel to this year multiple channels every night for hours at a time. MPEG macro-blocking with audio drop out. Again initially once in a while, now multiple channels for hours at a time EVERY night. Typically it is 5 sec of audio and video, followed by 30 seconds of macro blocking or picture freeze and no audio repeated for hours on end. Tune to a channel, get 20 - 30 seconds of black before they re-route you to a non-HD channel which takes another 10 seconds to display. The instantaneous freeze with no audio that can only be corrected by switching channels. The usual fix - going to your online account to reset your cable box - still appears in the account. For the past several months they would not allow it after reporting the network was working fine. You select to reset and it denies you saying there IS a network outage they will fix in 12 hours. This past week they simply report "There was a problem and we could not reset your cable box. Try again later" but it NEVER works. I believe they have actually disabled this capability of your account and just won't tell consumers they have done it. Charge you for services they deny you access to. I am being charged for HBO Max, something that should come from my HBO subscription through COX but I can't access it unless I pony up an additional $29 a month for a DVR box. My smart TV would support it through network / internet connection, but I would have to pay HBO directly for it because they say, unlike the old HBO Go I must get it through COX if I want to get it as part of my subscription. They regularly take the entire cable sometimes including internet service offline for hours at a time for "upgrades" which make no changes to the crappy signal quality, bogged down internet connections and glitchiness. Yes, this "improved service" is why our cable bill doubled in 5 years. COX - say it out loud - its all in the name!3.2KViews0likes4CommentsCox Tulsa - all channels except local have disappeared on my Silicon dust HD Homerun,
I am NOT attempting to record things, just to watch TV on my PC using the HD Homerun viewing app, something which worked fine until Cox started the upgrade from MPEG 2 the the new format . I've read some posts stating that Cox has set a DRM "no record" flag on everything but local channels, but the HD home run software is supposed to be DRM compliant, and should not ha a problem with watching, as opposed to recording, TV . I contacted Cox, who gave me the usual "nothing wrong at this end" speech. Anyone have any ideas? This is about this last straw with COX for me. Everything was working fine, and they go and mess it up, and deny having done so. . I have two PCs I occasionally use to watch TV . My Cox bill is already over $300 a month, and I am not going to pay them $20 a more or two more boxes..2.2KViews0likes6CommentsContour 2 App - ipad, iOS 9.3.2
yesterday, I had all of my channels available on Contour 2. Today, a bunch of channels are missing, generally those between 17 and 93, except for 48 which is present. The missing channels are also missing in the 1000 channel number range. Restarting the ipad did not clear the problem. The "missing" channels are available through my various cable boxes, however.1.6KViews0likes1CommentCannot pick up some channels since using Mini Box. SCAM
So ever since I "upgraded" to the mini box I have not been able to view the History Channel and have problems with some others. Before the complete change I could view the channels by unhooking the box and plugging cable directly into the TV. Now that the switch to digital is complete I can't even do that. So I know is is line my TV or the cable line. I have spent over two hours on the phone with cox about this and nothing has helped. (BTW - one rep said I was not alone in this - other complaints have come in.) I am so disgusted. I and seriously looking at changing services for all - TV phone and internet. This is the last straw!!!!11KViews0likes31CommentsCablecard doesn't have access to channels past TV starter pack
Hello everyone, Have called the Cox tech support several times at this point, and a replacement cablecard without any success. The people helping have been very friendly, just don't seem to have a large amount of knowledge on cablecards. I'm hopeful someone here can tell me what to ask the tech support to do to get the full list of channels unlocked. I have had my Ceton Infititv 4 since it came out and has always worked flawlessly on Comcast before we moved to Phoenix last month. Now in south Phoenix the pairing went smooth, I have very good signals on all channels, but I do no receive channels other than what are in the basic TV Starter pack. I ordered the Advanced TV preferred, and am certainly up to date on payments. When I go to tune a channel that I should get in either SD or HD, I get a 'subscription required, contact your service provider'. This happens for any channels beyond the 40 channels or so that are in The TV Starter and TV Started HD. The few channels I can currently get in SD and HD come in very clear. Any help in unlocking my full list of channels would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.Solved4.6KViews0likes6CommentsMissing HD channels
