FOX NEWS - Intermittent Audio - Sound goes in and out frequently
For the last three weeks and only on FOX NEWS, the sound disappears for a second or two and comes back. This happens off and on throughout the day every few seconds to once every five minutes or more. It's disgusting and only happens when we watch Fox News, no other channels have this problem. I've been told by Cox there is no such problem from their end of transmissions and I've had technicians out and they say there's no problems. Rebooting of convertor does not help. Who else is this happening to? I'm in Cox San Diego North.Solved8.3KViews1like10CommentsCox Degrades Signals and Prohibits Cable Box Resets
As soon as Cox went from analog to digital the degradation of reception has steadily gotten worse while they continue to up prices by 8 - 12% per year - supposedly "upgrading" their "infrastructure". SYMPTOMS: Black screen, no audio with a displayable info bar. This went from occasional on one channel to this year multiple channels every night for hours at a time. MPEG macro-blocking with audio drop out. Again initially once in a while, now multiple channels for hours at a time EVERY night. Typically it is 5 sec of audio and video, followed by 30 seconds of macro blocking or picture freeze and no audio repeated for hours on end. Tune to a channel, get 20 - 30 seconds of black before they re-route you to a non-HD channel which takes another 10 seconds to display. The instantaneous freeze with no audio that can only be corrected by switching channels. The usual fix - going to your online account to reset your cable box - still appears in the account. For the past several months they would not allow it after reporting the network was working fine. You select to reset and it denies you saying there IS a network outage they will fix in 12 hours. This past week they simply report "There was a problem and we could not reset your cable box. Try again later" but it NEVER works. I believe they have actually disabled this capability of your account and just won't tell consumers they have done it. Charge you for services they deny you access to. I am being charged for HBO Max, something that should come from my HBO subscription through COX but I can't access it unless I pony up an additional $29 a month for a DVR box. My smart TV would support it through network / internet connection, but I would have to pay HBO directly for it because they say, unlike the old HBO Go I must get it through COX if I want to get it as part of my subscription. They regularly take the entire cable sometimes including internet service offline for hours at a time for "upgrades" which make no changes to the crappy signal quality, bogged down internet connections and glitchiness. Yes, this "improved service" is why our cable bill doubled in 5 years. COX - say it out loud - its all in the name!3.3KViews0likes4CommentsContour GUI is a excruciatingly slow.
The Contour’s guide is unusable, as inputs on the contour remote are not registered by the contour system until 5-10 MINUTES later. The slowness also causes the bottom information frame that pops up to be in the background, creating a burn-in effect that messes with my TV. The TV thinks that there is no active input after 30 minutes, so my TV’s screen saver comes on to prevent burn-in. This has been an ongoing problem since the we got the system, and does not seem to be limited to me judging by all the other complaints on the Internet. I will be filing a complaint with the FCC regardless of the outcome of this post, as that has been the only way to get anything fixed in the past. I just want this post to be visible for others having this issue.3KViews0likes5CommentsHorrible service for over a month!
Come on cox get it together! It’s been over a month of just absolute horrible service! The sound keeps cutting in and out and the shows freeze! I’ll be super interested in a show and just at a part that I’ve been waiting to hear the sound cuts out ugh! I’ll try to rewind and it won’t rewind and just go back to live making me completely miss the part in the show I needed to see or hear! Also then I can’t rewind at all when I should be able to! It’s also pathetic cox only lets u rewind less than thirty minutes when direct tv lets u rewind four hours back if u wanted as long as u have been on that channel for that long! And u can only pause the tv for like five minutes before it kicks u off! Cox has gone completely downhill and we completely regret going back to cox! I wish the sales guy for cox would have never talked my dad into getting us to use cox again! The only good thing I like is the voice button to speak what u want to watch other than that it’s ** and I’m getting so tired of not getting to watch a full episode without something going wrong during it! I have to go watch my Netflix if I want to watch something without sound issues or the show freezing ugh! I know I’m repeating myself but u have no idea how frustrating it is to miss parts in a show and every show! We even had a couple techs out to our house and they don’t fix anything and then this last one couldn’t even come inside like seriously what’s the point of sending out a tech guy if he can’t come in and try to help us with this horrible service! Ridiculous cox just ridiculous!1.3KViews0likes4CommentsSales gave me incorrect price info
My current plan is expiring. I called 3 times and lastly was told to call back in a few weeks for new specials. I was told my bill would only go up by $10 until then. Two days later I received my new bill and it went up $32. I live in Irvine, CA - going to try T-Mobile 5G which will be available in my area soon.702Views0likes1CommentNew Channel Guide
Agreed - this is ridiculous given that there are thousands of channels and not even a way to identify that you don't get it without clicking on it to see....wow - can't believe such a large provider would have such a huge bug in their process....and customer service didn't seem to care - just asked if I had a written list of the channels I get...like I can cross check 3,000 channels against a letter size list of channel names...right....reconsidering using Cox. Forum: TV Forum Posted: 13 Sep 2014 Post Subject: New Channel Guide Post author: Jon R. With the recent Program Guide "upgrade", my channel list shows not just my Favorite channels as before, but also EVERY channel available, ones subscribed to and not subscribed to. After much searching, I found a way to hide the unwanted channels, but no way to permanently save the search option. So each time I need to select Custom 1. I can't believe this frustrating lack of giving users a way to save their search preferences was intentional. Clearly, the software techs that changed your Guide did not think about the customer experience and the added frustration. Please have them reinstate this basic feature. This Past Sunday 4/10/2016 Madam Secretary Episode: Desperate Remedies Aired. Well because of an overage of another program my DVR only recorded 30 minutes of it. Normally i would go to On Demand and watch it but for some reason it is not showing in the CBS lineup. i have been seriously thinking of cutting the Tv Cord with COX since they seem to Love treating Long term service customers (16 yrs) with less then appropriate service. Does anyone know ANYTHING about why the OnDemand Service in NOT updating Properly?3.4KViews0likes5Commentsmini box nightmare!
I have two mini boxes - one for my son's room and one for the living room that has internet as well on a split. We just got them last night and found out that I lost most of the channels I was receiving before I switched. Cox will jack you for getting the channels you lost when switching... charging you extra for the channels that you HAD before switching! SO BEWARE!!!! I've been a customer with Cox for over 5yrs and never had an issue like this! Talked to one tech about the problem and he said that I should be getting all the 'basic' channels (all 100+) that I did before - then wanted to charge me to get a tech out at my home to make sure it was installed properly...talked to another service rep this morning and she told me that I never had those channels to begin with...uh...yes, I did! I am NOT paying more for the channels I am NOT receiving! So Buyer BEWARE! This company will *** you dry for such little product! Switching to another cable/internet company ASAP!!!! oh - one more thing...they advertise more channels - yeah that's a laugh...more MUSIC channels .... who in their right mind "watches" music on their TV???? NO PICTURE! lmao Have a great weekend ya'll......switching out! PEACE!2.9KViews0likes3CommentsLocked thread continuation - Why is my OnDemand not updating shows that previously aired?
No decent answer ever given on previous thread, yet it's locked. I'm out. Only way to win is quit playing this game. Just cut TV to Starter pack. Added Kodi + Netflix + Amazon + Sling TV and took my converter box (that we paid approximately $800 to rent over its stay) back. Savings approaching $40 per month after additional incremental cost , and we get on demand style offerings that work, all the stuff we want, and none of the bill-padding junk almost no one wants. Likely going to OTA for the local stations soon. If a competing provider gets internet available at acceptable speed in the future, I'm jumping ship completely.2.5KViews0likes4Comments
