How Many Have Discovered Their New Boxes Aren't New?
Okay, this post is more ranting than anything else but it does have a sound basic question. I spent the last few weeks of April having constant problems of being unable to access On Demand. Either there were no past programs available or I kept receiving messages that OD wasn't available and to check back later. It took several calls to so-called "technicians" before someone said that I shouldn't have to refresh the box each time I wanted to view OD. They arranged to have a technician come out to the house. A real "class" dude! Tromped through the house with his dirty boots really angering my wife. Then, he had an attitude. Did his thing outside and said he'd "check back" if it didn't get better. Never did "check back"! I finally got someone on the phone who went through endless apologies and told me I needed to get a new box. Had the choice of having someone else clomp through the house or going to the Cox Store. We made the mistake of doing the latter, waiting in a poorly designed, and crowded place with no seats for disable like me. We then had someone gladly give us a "new" box - all neatly shrink-wrapped and everything! How neat! Took it home, hooked it up - and learned it was not, as the salesman told me, ready to go as the settings were already in the system. Had to go through the entire set up again. Then - it lasted TWO WHOLE DAYS before taking a dump! Out of nowhere, without any warning, it just stopped. Dead as a doornail. Unplugged and let it set for 15 minutes. Fired up, went through the boot, and it worked just fine - FOR ABOUT TWENTY MINUTES. Since then, absolutely nothing,. I goes through "boot" and shows that weird - ∩ U - think and about 10 seconds of the on-screen thing. Then, all it shows if four vertical lightning bolts. Nada. Zip. Zilch. So, what choice to I have but to disconnect the blasted thing and try to hook that big mother TV directly to the cable? Fought to move the blasted thing and connected the cable to the back of the TV. Wow! Two whole channels strong enough to play on the set - CBS and ABC. Everything works find on the set in my bedroom. At least I learned I can watch some shows online here on my desktop PC. Think they're gonna make me pay for a full month of TV service?2.2KViews0likes1Comment
