Gaming Lag
Hello, i am having a problem in which every time I connect to a game of League of Legends it lags to an unplayable level. Once I connect, if I then power cycle my modem it fixes it for the most part (some packet loss but okay). I know it is not the game servers as I was in CO for the past two months and never had this issue. In March I was having a similar issue and when I called Cox said not their fault, get a new modem/router. I did and problem was actually fixed until I went to CO in May. Once I returned, same issue. Issue increases dramatically at 5pm. Pretty sure that cox is throttling the service to Riot servers. All other services I.e Netflix, YouTube work fine.4.6KViews0likes10CommentsLatency issues
Hi can anyone help me figure out with the problem is with my internet? I have the 300 download and 30 upload cox has to offer but ever since i got this internet i just been having major latency issues while gaming online. I have power cycled my modem and router which are both new but nothing seems to work. I game with lan so i don't use wifi while gaming but it only seems to happen when im playing at night time. This has been a big issue for me that isstarting to become a nightmare. modem netgear CM600 router Netgear nighthawk x6 R80001.9KViews0likes1CommentIPv6 and Xbox One
Despite having IPv6, my Xbox One is still using the IPv4 address; it does use an IPv6 DNS however. My when I log in to my router I can see it has assigned the Xbox an IPv6 address, but when I go in to the Xbox settings it still shows the IPv4 address. Another strange issue I have is that my speed tests are drastically different on the Xbox than on any other device I test. I consistently get 16 down 7 up on the Xbox, where I get about 20 down 20 up on my laptop. My Xbox is connected to my router through an Ethernet cable.4.6KViews0likes1CommentUpload connections and streaming to twitch
Ever since the weekend of the superbowl I have been unable to properly stream gaming content to twitch. I am able to watch streams with no issues and browse sites during these stream issues. I have made contacts to both Twitch and Cox and was informed the issues was most likely on my ISP. Out of frustration I also tried streaming to youtube gaming and got the same issues. My computer is more than capable of handling streaming as I had done so months before the super bowl. Currently I am at a loss after contact support and speaking to level two support being told there is no issues when clearly there is. I have a tracert attached to show my results below. Please any ideas or help for this would be appreciated as this new found issue has become overly annoying. I use my internet to play online games constantly, and an issue has been evident from when I first got Cox High Speed 100 mbps internet until now. Doing anything other than playing online video games is fine on this internet, exceptional actually, but when playing games it is evident that every ten seconds to a minute there is a pause. Everything freezes for about one to three seconds, it sounds like it doesn't mean much but in competitive games it completely ruins the flow and can (and often does) lead to my in-game death. I love playing games, and it's how I spend lots of my free time, please respond.1.6KViews0likes1Commentultimate speed gimped!!!!
went from premier to ultimate in my area 23518 and instead of the 200mbps I'm paying for it actually is doing a bit worse from my old 100 mbps on my premier plan, before upgrading I had a cisco DPC3010 and now with the ultimate plan I have the arris surfboard SB6183 cable modem. speeds have never broken 90 let along the 200 mbps I require for my high speed life. so either I can get this resolved or just downgrade and save the cash cause at that point my speed will be faster. http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/51410225181.7KViews0likes1CommentInternet Download Speed Extremely Slow
I just figured out how to add my own account to my mom's. We've been having issues with our speed since we've had Cox. I understand there's too many people on the node (from local tech that came to our house last month), but we weren't told we were going to have problems like this. I can't take a Cox speed test, because only my mother's account can do that. Here's our speeds from November 21-25 of 2015: tests. We are supposed to get "up to 100 Mbps" but here lately we haven't been able to even reach 10 Mbps. To top it off, because of how slow it is if all three of us are online at the same time, we can't do anything. Yes, we're from Northwest Arkansas where it's been raining a lot recently, but we've been having problems before the rain. Lately we've been thinking our problem might be that we're on a splitter with a neighbor, because we've done some looking into it and some people's problems have been that. They ended up getting their own line and they were fine. We have the DPQ3925 gateway and my parents don't have the money to buy our own modem and router. When I get my refund in the spring from financial aid, I've been planning on building a computer, but if the internet is horrible, why build something that I can't enjoy. I just made a League of Legends team and I need to practice daily, but I can't because of the problems we're having. Are you guys able to find out when they're fixing the node in our area? Yes, I'm still posting for my mother because she doesn't really know the technical side of computers. The service guy who came to our house told us that there were too many houses connected to the node and that Cox won't do anything until at least the first of the year. Okay, no problem. Alas, since the guy came out (all he did was switch out our cable box with a DVR capable one), we've been lucky to reach about 10 Mbps download and upload. This test was with the cox speed test: Mon Dec 21 11:28 PM Yes 8 Mbps 12 Mbps 26 millisec 72.221.61.133 Oklahoma City I understand it's "up to 100 Mbps" download, but when we're not even getting "up to 50 Mbps" I personally think we shouldn't have to pay the full amount. Right now we have the DPQ3925 gateway. Is there something better? Which modem and router do you guys recommend? If our speeds don't improve when they fix the node, I'm going to try to convince my parents to buy a modem and router.Solved3.2KViews0likes6Comments
