Internet Download Speed Extremely Slow
I just figured out how to add my own account to my mom's. We've been having issues with our speed since we've had Cox. I understand there's too many people on the node (from local tech that came to our house last month), but we weren't told we were going to have problems like this. I can't take a Cox speed test, because only my mother's account can do that. Here's our speeds from November 21-25 of 2015: tests. We are supposed to get "up to 100 Mbps" but here lately we haven't been able to even reach 10 Mbps. To top it off, because of how slow it is if all three of us are online at the same time, we can't do anything. Yes, we're from Northwest Arkansas where it's been raining a lot recently, but we've been having problems before the rain. Lately we've been thinking our problem might be that we're on a splitter with a neighbor, because we've done some looking into it and some people's problems have been that. They ended up getting their own line and they were fine. We have the DPQ3925 gateway and my parents don't have the money to buy our own modem and router. When I get my refund in the spring from financial aid, I've been planning on building a computer, but if the internet is horrible, why build something that I can't enjoy. I just made a League of Legends team and I need to practice daily, but I can't because of the problems we're having. Are you guys able to find out when they're fixing the node in our area? I have been a Cox customer for about 2 weeks (since moving to Henderson). Since then, World of Warcraft is unplayable for me. I cannot go 15 consecutive minutes without a disconnect or a lag spike of more than 5-15 seconds. Is anyone else having problems with WoW? It's not my computer--WoW still works perfectly fine with no issues when I drive back to Glendale, CA and use my brother's ISP, nor does it have disconnect or lag issues using my Mom's old DSL connection. It's only here in Henderson, using Cox. For example (and this is not an extreme case, but about the average experience for me): This evening, Tuesday August 13, from 9:00 pm-9:40 pm, I disconnected 4 times from WoW. I also had 4 bouts of lag/latency that had me running in place onscreen for more than 10 seconds each time. And it doesn't matter what time of day I try to play. Morning, mid-day, evenings, weekdays or weekends, it's all the same. I am a "Preferred" bundle customer, which is up to 25mbps download speeds. Should I pay extra and upgrade to 50 mbps? I wouldn't mind doing so, but the product I'm paying for now is so horrendous, I don't trust that paying extra would solve anything. Especially since my old DSL connection never had any problems like the ones I've experienced since the cable guy installed my internet and router and I plugged in two weeks ago. Everything else I do online, I can do from my smartphone--so if I can't play online, then there really is no reason to keep paying for Cox internet.Solved5.4KViews0likes5Comments20%+ packet loss for hours sporadically throughout the day (unusable)
Hello, At the beginning of the month (the 3rd), I moved into a brand new apartment complex that is fiber ready. They also installed a brand new Cox modem. I figured that this meant I wouldn't have any issues. I was very wrong. Since moving in, I have made many calls to Cox support and even had 2 techs out (a 3rd scheduled for tomorrow) and nothing has improved whatsoever. I work from home and I also do a lot of online gaming and this packet loss makes everything impossible to do (including loading websites). I have tried everything on my end that I can do, including power cycling the modem, rebooting my computer, changing the ethernet cables, turned off Wireless, turned off Firewalls. The two previous techs replaced the wiring outside hoping that will fix it, but nothing has worked. The packet loss I'm experiencing is making my TCP connections completely unusable, while my UDP connections still work somewhat. My computer is plugged directly into the modem. When the internet is working, it's great and downloads very fast, but when it's having issues, it spikes to upwards of 35-40% packet loss. The issue usually occurs from around 2AM-8AM, but the issue often happens sporadically throughout the day (as you can see from my Pingplotter of the last 48 hours below...) and thus far, no tech has been able to see the problem happening live. I'm beyond frustrated at this point and I just don't know what to do anymore. Any help would be appreciated. I've provided various tests below that might offer some insight into the issues.4.8KViews0likes9CommentsGaming Lag
Hello, i am having a problem in which every time I connect to a game of League of Legends it lags to an unplayable level. Once I connect, if I then power cycle my modem it fixes it for the most part (some packet loss but okay). I know it is not the game servers as I was in CO for the past two months and never had this issue. In March I was having a similar issue and when I called Cox said not their fault, get a new modem/router. I did and problem was actually fixed until I went to CO in May. Once I returned, same issue. Issue increases dramatically at 5pm. Pretty sure that cox is throttling the service to Riot servers. All other services I.e Netflix, YouTube work fine.4.6KViews0likes10CommentsIPv6 and Xbox One
Despite having IPv6, my Xbox One is still using the IPv4 address; it does use an IPv6 DNS however. My when I log in to my router I can see it has assigned the Xbox an IPv6 address, but when I go in to the Xbox settings it still shows the IPv4 address. Another strange issue I have is that my speed tests are drastically different on the Xbox than on any other device I test. I consistently get 16 down 7 up on the Xbox, where I get about 20 down 20 up on my laptop. My Xbox is connected to my router through an Ethernet cable.4.6KViews0likes1CommentNot getting enough internet speed
Good afternoon; Considering my mother isn't as good enough with computers and internet as I am, she allowed me to make her forum account for her. We just moved to our new home last Friday (Nov 20), but have had internet/tv/phone since last Wednesday (Nov 18). During the day, our internet speeds are around 1/5 of the speeds we're paying for (up to 100 Mbps). At night however, we get anywhere from 5Mbps to around 40Mbps. I understand the speed we pay for, Premier, is "up to 100Mbps," but if we're getting Preferred, "up to 50Mbps," speeds, we might need to get downgraded. We had figured with three people using the internet and all of us playing games that require internet access, Premier would be best for us. Sadly, if we're not getting more than Preferred speeds, we shouldn't have to pay for Premier. We don't have the money right now to buy our own modem and router, or else we would. What could we do, without spending any extra money (because we just moved), to get the speeds we're paying for. My speed tests: (only person using internet is me, plugged directly into the modem DPQ3925) http://testmy.net/quickstats/HoodedDemonSolved4.2KViews0likes13Commentsfrequent disconnects from mmorpg

Hello, Recently I was trying to find a way to port forward a family member's minecraft server, Learning that I had to do so with the Cox provided home network manager, I found it. However its description says to click the "Get started" next to it, But all that's there is a " Learn more" button which takes me to the homepage, Is being able to port forward a paid service separate from internet services? I sincerely hope not. As a it of insight wether it may help or not, I have tried to access said manager from Internet explorer latest version, Firefox latest version, And google chrome latest version and the resulting "Button" is still labeled "Learn more" if anyone can help me with this I would greatly appreciate it.3.8KViews0likes6CommentsUpdate From Last Question
Yes, I'm still posting for my mother because she doesn't really know the technical side of computers. The service guy who came to our house told us that there were too many houses connected to the node and that Cox won't do anything until at least the first of the year. Okay, no problem. Alas, since the guy came out (all he did was switch out our cable box with a DVR capable one), we've been lucky to reach about 10 Mbps download and upload. This test was with the cox speed test: Mon Dec 21 11:28 PM Yes 8 Mbps 12 Mbps 26 millisec 72.221.61.133 Oklahoma City I understand it's "up to 100 Mbps" download, but when we're not even getting "up to 50 Mbps" I personally think we shouldn't have to pay the full amount. Right now we have the DPQ3925 gateway. Is there something better? Which modem and router do you guys recommend? If our speeds don't improve when they fix the node, I'm going to try to convince my parents to buy a modem and router.Solved3.2KViews0likes6Comments
