Unable to Connect to Server to check email on Android phone
Having issues of being unable to access my Cox email account from my Android phone, getting an error message that says: Cannot Safely Connect to Server. I have checked my Mobile / Secure Email Settings. My Incoming Settings are pop.east.cox.net, the port is 995, and security type SSL. My Outgoing Server Settings are smtp.east.cox.net, the port is 465, security type SSL. When going forward the following message is displayed: Setup could not finish Cannot safely connect to server. (java.security.cert.CertPathValidatorException: Trust anchor for certification path not found.) ........Exactly as stated in another user's question from 2/18/12.....and this has been happening to me the week of February 12 to currently as I send this February 20, 2012. Does the "east" need need to be removed from the Incoming and Outgoing Server Settings??? This is very inconvenient without any warning as a Customer. I see one other user / customer with the same issue. Any solution yet other than as mentioned in settings?Solved84KViews0likes5CommentsIMAP for Cox stopped working
I've been using IMAP with my Cox account as well as several other services for many months now. IMAP still works for the other services, but I can't login to the Cox IMAP server any longer. The problems began last month. These are the settings that were successful before: cox.imap.com, port 993 using SSL. Cox user name without the cox.net. smtp.cox.net, port 587 using TLS. Full email address for outgoing server authentication. The problem seems to be only with the IMAP server authentication because SMTP is successful some of the time. My other IMAP accounts that are not hosted by Cox still work. Did the Cox IMAP server name or port number change recently? Do you know how I can get IMAP working again? I'm spoiled by having my email synced across all my devices.Solved11KViews0likes11Comments"Enter network password" windows repeatedly popping up on Outlook email
I've had 3 minimum long chats with tech support and they've changed passwords, fiddled around, but in a nutshell I am still plagued constantly by these "enter network password" pop up windows. All PWs are entered correctly. Send/receive test works fine, all email addresses send/receive okay --- and then they don't! I have a Dell PC, Windows 8.1, MS Office 2013, I use Outlook 2013 for email. (Don't use webmail, just my PC.) Tech support has been hopeless in resolving this and I am tearing my hair out. Impossible to work with these darned pop-ups. Some days worse than others but no real rhyme or reason. One tech tried to tell me it might be because my McAfee security setting was high (it's set on medium level). I said, "and that would explain 6 pop up windows in 20 seconds?" No answer. I'm beyond disappointed in Cox. Twice, the tech support sessions left things worse rather than better. Has anyone had and resolved this problem? Thanks for any advice.11KViews0likes6CommentsCan no longer send mail from my iMac
I have been able to send & receive emails until today when in the middle of typing an email it appeared that my Internet went down briefly. When I went to send the email I got the message: Cannot send message using the server cox.net. The smtp connection to server "smtp.cox.net" failed. Select a different outgoing mail server from the list below or click try Later. The only option highlighted in the box is " cox.net" (Offline). I have gone to the Connection Doctor. It says: "Mail was able to connect to the Internet." "Trying to log in to this SMTP account failed. Verify that the username & password are correct." Which I have verified & are correct. I am on an iMac OS X Version 10.9.1 Any help would be greatly appreciated!9.9KViews0likes9CommentsUnable to send email
About three weeks ago I began to have trouble sending email using my Android app on my Samsung tablet. It had been working perfectly for over 1.5 years and nothing has changed. I did a chat session with Cox Tech help and they told me the problem might be resolved in five or six hours. It had been going on for 3 days at that point and issue is still not resolved. Anyone else seeing the problem or have any suggestions to solve? I have found that by changing the TLS settings, saving, exiting the app going back into the app and editing the email still in the Outbox, that about half the time it will be sent. However, is very cumbersome and clearly there's a problem. Thanks8.6KViews0likes6CommentsSpam out of control
Each and every night I get 3-4, sometimes more, spam messages. They are clearly spam, as the return address and headers are all fakes. Why can Cox flag these as spam. I report them as spam, and add them to my blocked list, but this has NO effect to date. If Cox cannot get a handle on these, I will be forced to cancel my account. Every one has opt-out link form Shotzi Hosting, Las Vegas, but those clearly do nothing. The messages contain no text, just 3 text images, so filtering does not work. Cox please get a handle on these, and find a way to block them.8KViews0likes13CommentsEmail filters don't work at all
I've had filters set up for months, most are "If subject contains..." then discard. Discard means REMOVE. It means do not even put it in my spam folder. Yet I have to come into my web mail and delete the spam folder periodically because email filters are not being even TOUCHED when mail comes in. I even get mail sent to my inbox about 5 times a month that is CLEARLY marked with a filter for deletion. It doesn't look like email filtering has ever even worked. The only filters that appear to work are the ALLOW ones, because you kept marking some legitimate emails as spam and after numerous arguing matches on the phone with you guys about your pathetically inadequate spam filtering that was my final resolution. Use a filter I'd RATHER use to block something for an ALLOW that I should not have to allow if your spam filters correctly saw that the emails were legit. And your system STILL flags some legit messages as spam when they definitely are not, I have to pay attention before dumping spam because after several years you still can't get it right and delete legit emails from my bank and others. What's most frustrating is that it isn't all the time, it's just once in awhile, they are definitely legitimate emails (I even had the abuse dept at the bank check one) that get dumped in spam because of your awful spam filtering methods. Yes, of course they are all checked On. Yes, of course the EXACT WORD or WORDS are the ones in the filter matching the one in the subject. No they are not containing characters replaced by ones that look the same but aren't, eg, a capital I being replaced by a 1. Feel free to examine the filters I have and what's sitting in my spam folder right now. Why are they even there?7.3KViews0likes12Comments
