Cox Mini Box Cisco DTA250 pixelation and tiling and running hot Cox send out refurbs that don't work
Have had our Cisco mini box replaced a few times butCox keeps sending out refurbs that don't work. The most recent one is a DTA250-COX-K9 from 2016. We getpixelation and tiling and it runs hot. The AC adapter/ power cord runs 88-90 degrees when idle and the mini box runs 90-92 degrees when idle. When running the adapter/ power cord is 92 or so degrees and the box runs 98-100 degrees or more. All other AC adapters/ power cords run at 78-80 degrees at idle and while running. Other devices run about 68-70 degrees around the ambient temperature when idle and around 75-85 degrees when running. No other devices runs as hot as the Cox mini box. The other deices area a Roku Ultra, Nvidia Shield Pro, and audio receiver. Cox mini box has plenty of room to breathe and is on an elevated and vented metal platform. Measured using a Fluke 62 Max + a very accurate IR temp gun.1.3KViews0likes2CommentsTivo Roamio Plus & MTR700 - Some switched digital channels went away - Johnston Rhode Island
Everything has been running fine for a long time. Apparently, last Wednesday, Cox changed some switched digital signals back to fixed channel. Now, in order to get those particular channels, I need to disable the digital tuning adapter (DTA). For example, channels 1091, 1093, 1094 and 1095 will no longer appear with the DTA enabled, but can be watched if either the DTA power or the USB cable from the Tivo to the DTA is unplugged. Channel 1090 has disappeared completely, although the equivalent standard definition channel 90 can be viewed, but only when the DTA is active. I swapped out the DTA on Thursday, and verified that the DTA firmware was up-to-date, but that didn't change anything. Two Cox technicians worked at my house for almost two hours Saturday trying to figure it out, without success, and one tech is scheduled to return next Wednesday to give it another try. They tried rebooting the Tivo, unpairing and pairing the CableCard, resetting the DTA, checking the signal levels, updating the splitter, and looking for cabling problems. I would like to know if anyone else has experienced this problem, and can possibly offer some guidance.2.2KViews0likes1Comment
