Unable to connect to Cox High Speed Internet Network
I had Cox High Speed Internet installed Thursday, April 12. The installation went quickly and painlessly and in less than an hour I had internet access. I bought a ZOOM 5350 Cable Modem/Wireless Router which worked great right out of the box. Since last evening, Friday, April 13, I have been unable to access the Cox High Speed Internet network. I called tech support and went through the usual diagnostics (PC network configuration, wired/wireless connections, etc.) Tech Support can see the Cable Modem on the network and can remotely reboot the Cable Modem on the network. I can communicate with the Cable Modem (wired and wirelessly) without any difficulty through the PC, but am unable to pass or receive any data through the Cable Modem. The only thing I have been able to determine is that the Cable Modem's Dynamic IP Address is no longer dynamic. After approximately 20+ reboots and resets since the loss of the internet, the Cable Modem's IP Address is the same every time. When I reboot the Cable Modem without a cable connection, the IP Address is blank, so the old address is not being retained in the Cable Modem. Since the Dynamic IP Addresses are being furnished by the Cox network routers, it seems to me that this is a network problem. I restored my (substandard) AT&T DSL connection so I have internet access, but want to get my Cox internet problems straightened out so I can finish firing AT&T. Any ideas?5.7KViews0likes2CommentsUltimate Internet only providing 25-35mbps...
Is anyone else having issues getting the advertised speed of 50mbps with the Ultimate plan? $109 a month seemsEXTREMELY steep for speeds that I was getting with the Premiere service. With Premiere I was almost ALWAYS clocking between 25-35mbps. It was always above the advertised speed. Now I feel like I'm getting ripped off only pulling up to 40mbps (very rarely). I have had techs out on 3separateoccasions what have all done the same work, checking connections and redoing the last guys work. They're are telling me it's going to be hard to get up to 50mbps because I have two PCs, two 360s, and one laptop. I always got between 25-35mbps with this same set up on Premiere. Our tower PCs plugged right into the modem don't get any higher. I WANT MY MBPS! I will not be paying $100 for the same service I was getting with Premiere.4.5KViews0likes4CommentsWill having all my computers on the internet slow down my Internet connection?
A lot of households have more Wi-Fi enabled devices (PCs, laptops, tablets, and more)than there arepeople in the home. Generally, devices can share a connection with no noticeable loss of speed, but there are some exceptions. Streaming video - especially television shows and movies - takes a lot of bandwidth and may result in slowdown for other devices on your network. Immersive online games with extensive graphics andaudio may slow things down. Downloading large files, like albums or videos from iTunes, may cause slowdown for the duration of the download. What slows your household's connection down? Tell us in the comments! Thanks! The Cox Forums Team7.5KViews0likes4Comments
