Check out the other threads posted here about the TV feed being delayed since they switched their encoding methods. I'm sure the delay on all TV channels is causing your DVR issues. It's an absolute mess now.130Views0likes1CommentRe: LIVE TV Delayed
It seems like this is a permanent thing. After they sent me their response (see above), I asked them if this will be the standard moving forward and this was their reply: "This will be the standard moving forward. However, since technology is constantly changing, there is certainly the potential for further change and improvement. Another update: "After discussing this further with our video engineers, we believe the issue you're experiencing is due to the way live sporting events are broadcast and the encoding that occurs on the Cox side before the feed is transmitted to customers. Cox no longer broadcasts in the MPEG-2 format; MPEG-4 encoding is now used. Cox has been transitioning from MPEG-2 to MPEG-4 in all Cox markets over the past year. MPEG-4 compresses the signal more than MPEG-2 while maintaining signal quality, thus freeing up bandwidth. This encoding change can cause a delay between the TV broadcast and online streaming feeds." Exactly, "stuff" happens, and I'm trying to figure out why said "stuff" is happening. However, for some reason you are upset that I'm trying to figure out why "stuff" is happening to me. You don't even have to go far to see another complaint about this: https://forums.cox.com/forum_home/tv_forum/f/tv-forum/29307/cox-tv-delay You can go ahead and use any search tool available to find other complaints online. 20+ seconds delay is a big deal if you were a sports fan rather than spending most of your time on Cox forums trying to belittle someone else's problem.17Views0likes0Comments
