I do not have an abundance of time to be jerked in error circles by following instructions to a tee- and I have even less patience. Thank you for responding. Re: Successful Email transition to Yahoo: using Thunderbird on Windows I'm glad you had success. Unfortunately nothing I do seems to work in being able to use Thunderbird. Yahoo has successfully bullied me from avoiding their damned interface because their server refuses to accept the credentials being sent from me- despite having followed your instructions to a tee. Setting up a new account is just another error-prone exercise in futility. I do not have time to play these games and little patience in trying to guess which settings I should slash and burn in a futile attempt to use what I had set up. There's something critical in the information that's missing. I'm getting authentication failures along with that goddamned popup prompting me to sign up a new account which I actually tried using with existing credentials only to get "already exists" error. Of course Cox isn't going to help. Neither is Yahoo. To the Cocks execs who decided this was a good thing to do to paying customers: Kindly give yourselves massage parlor happy endings rectally with rusty garden tools. Re: Successful Email transition to Yahoo: using Thunderbird on Windows Nothing is working. Errors errors errors and that damned Yahoo popup. Re: Successful Email transition to Yahoo: using Thunderbird on Windows Okay... retrying. The OAuth2 no-show was one thing that befuddled me. What should I expect (errors) in the interim? Had to reset my Cox account as it was (did so successfully) but am back at square one with the TB transfer. Bear in mind, all my accounts have been activated on Yahoo. The trick is to get TB and Yahoo to play nice. Yahoo wants to pop a window every time I launch TB disabling checking for messages erases that annoyance. Thank you for the response. Edit: now launching TB in turn pops the Yahoo window seeking credentials for webmail without TB seeking a password. Also- "authentication failure" No place in TB to enter new password The Yahoo popup when it attempts to "check for messages" is particularly goading. Grrr.... Re: Successful Email transition to Yahoo: using Thunderbird on Windows Tried this- didn't work. A useless window "inviting" me to establish a new account but I can no longer use Thunderbird. There doesn't seem to be a way for me to access my accounts any way besides Yahoo's interface. Re: Yahoo email transition- only one address? Reread one of a number of messages/info pages and discovered that each address will get its own email. Fortunately my profanity is multi-purpose and reusable. I will undoubtedly find a proper occasion for which it can be unleashed. Yahoo email transition- only one address? I have two Cox emails currently. I received the notification on my secondary email of the transition- I transitioned that email successfully. Regrettably this transition is apparently only going to work with one address, not two. This means that my main email address is going away- the email I use to correspond with family, friends, banks, brokerages, e-receipts, etc. My understanding was that Yahoo would handle multiple addresses. Was I hoodwinked into relinquishing the main email address or will that receive its own prompt? Please be advised that I'm on the verge of an impressive tidal wave of profanity. Thank you for reading. Re: Attempts to phish Cox email Sorry but it's not worth the bother. Thank you for responding. Cannot see any "forward as attachment" option in the updated webmail interface. I guess I can be happy I don't click links in email messages. If companies like Cox were serious about preventative security through reporting and pursuing phishing attempts, customers wouldn't be confronted by changed interfaces and deal with frustrating errors when trying to utilize a system that amounts to little more than a placebo button. The bad players on phishing expeditions exist outside the reach of those with the authority to act- assuming such parties even exist. Emails deleted. Re: Attempts to phish Cox email Nope. I'm using my Cox email... through my Cox router. Re: Attempts to phish Cox email Thank you for responding. No can do. Immediate error in reply: Sending of the message failed. An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: <lsanders62@cox.net> message rejected. Refer to Error Codes section at https://www.cox.com/residential/support/email-error-codes.html for more information. AUP#CXSNDR. Please check the message and try again.
