Check AT&T's site and see if they offer fiber in your area its a million times better then cox and far cheaper you get 1000 download and upload here and no data caps, also you get a dedicated line and not a shared node where your at the mercy of 200 or more people using the same line messing up your net and bandwidth. Re: Cox service is making me lose my hair!!! Same ** here started around the same time, have spent countless hours on the phone on hold i think around 14 times now, have had several techs come out, filed a complaint with the BBB (do that if you want attention from them) after all said an done they said the problem is my end, even tho we went through 5 of their own modems several of the service peoples modems and bought a $200 one myself instead of using their **,and they where still unable to fix it so closed the complain saying the problem is on my end even after all of their own people they sent out saying the issue was on their end lol, do yourself a favor and see if you have the option of switching to Fiber with someone else im switching to AT&T next month at my new house its half as much money ($70 instead of Cox $170 for unlimited) has unlimited usage and is a 1000 Down and Up. Re: Upload speeds dip around 3 PM. Switch to fiber if available in your area you get a dedicated line and dont have to share your connection with 200 other people like you do on cable. im about to move to another area that has Fiber 1000Mb up and down with unlimited service and is only $70 a month im paying Cox $120 +$50 for unlimited a month for that and the upload is only 35Mb and there customer service is 100% **. Re: I give up Problem is its not a port forwarding issue as even with no router, firewall or security at all and a direct internet connection ALL ports for direct inbound traffic are blocked. they sent out three guys all of which confirmed the issue was on Coxs end likely a node issue, cox themselves have done nothing about it. Re: I give up Yes i know how to network and port forward i have professionally ran wired networking in homes,i also know what ports cox blocks ..a direct modem connection with no firewall or routing on the device is wide open, not being able to get pinged from a port checker online is a problem with their service not my system. they have sent out three guys now each one of them not able to get a port test to pass,we have tried 6 modems direct with no routers involved, and no software firewalls running on two towers and two laptops, today i got a call from them stating there is nothing else they can do that i am getting my advertised speeds and apparently dont guaranty you will be able to use them for games or remote desktop service or anything else that needs open ports as literately all 65,535 ports are blocked unintentionally with what im guessing is a bad node on there network. Cox was great in AZ but totally ** in KS ,service was working great the first month i was here until their network went down one night for a half hour ever since all ports have been blocked checked everything necessary a 100 times over for port forwarding even DMZ my gaming system a few times on the router for the hell of it but if i cant get a port to be open with no router.... They also need to better train there employees or at least train some to troubleshoot there networks the first two guys they sent out didnt even know what port forwarding was. Re: NAT type strict on PC ive been having the same issue with all my ports on the network blocked been 2 weeks here so far ive been working on getting it fixed cox has sent people out a few times, we have tried 2 panoramic modems and 4 stand alone modems with no routers connected and three pc's so far they have also come and hooked up there testers and used them as modems and all ports are still blocked,i think they are having issues with there nodes they are currently upgrading for increased upload speeds and most people have not noticed it yet as they dont port forward much..feel free to follow my thread that way if we get it fixed we will have an answer for you. forums.cox.com/.../anyone-else-having-recent-issues-with-all-port-being-blocked-on-there-network Re: I give up Yea, when there network is working right its great i had it for 4 years in phoenix never had a single problem super fast, moved to another state.same service is absolute trash so far, was a nightmare to even get it working when i first got here then worked great for a couple months now this port blocking ** started about a week ago,im hoping next time they restart there servers it fixs itself, trying to call them to ask them to reset a node for the neighborhood is like im speaking another language to there staff. Re: What do I do if I am being targeted by a DoS Next time you go to bed just unplug your modem,it can take hours before your ip will change on the network, when your modem is offline its IP address will go back into the ip pool as available and can take upwards of an hour sometimes for someone else to pick it up,if the IP is still available your modem will automatically pick it back up, unplugging it over night pretty much guaranty's a new ip on a dynamic network. Re: How Do I Contact Cox? Good luck to you,i have chatted in after dodging there bot,you always have to start at square one every time you call and they ignore 90% of what you try and tell them, calling in is no better the people they are hiring seem to have 0 knowledge about there service and just read everything off scripts ignoring whatever you say,and it always ends up with them trying to sell you a $10 a month service plan for tech support, you should not have to pay them for support for a service you already pay a premium for. Re: I give up Im getting to the same point here, Cox is blocking ALL ports on there end of my network have replaced all my equipment twice and no longer rent there modem ether, cant port forward as they have everything blocked makes gaming near impossible, matchmaking almost always fails, lobbys will not connect and most of there support staff are clueless about what a port even is and all run the same script of trying to reset your modem even after you tell them its been restarted a 100 times now and even replaced a few times...i might have to just switch to one of the other providers out here their speeds are not as fast but i bet they will at least work properly.
