I have 2 Data Usage Apps/Scripts on my router, and Cox is always "overestimating" my usage compared to what my own Data Usage apps show me I am using. They will tell you that it may be off by a small percentage, but when they charge you for even going 1GB over the cap, they hit you with the overage. What a phuking joke Re: CoxWIFI is slow on Laptop, Fine on Mobile Hello, I am sorry you are having these issues on your laptop with internet. I understand this can be very frustrating as I know I would be if my internet was not consistent. I do have a few questions to better understand your issues. Is it possible to hardline connect the laptop to the modem and run a speed test? Also, are you having connection issues on other devices? Is it also possible to run a speed test on the phone and see what the connection is on there? Thank you! Using the speed test on Google for all tests Laptop Hardwired to MY network: 290 Mbps Laptop connected to CoxWIFI: haha can't even get it to run Laptop connected to my wireless network: 132 Mbps Mobile phone connected to CoxWIFI: 41 Mbps Mobile phone connected to my network: 121 Mbps just a piece of insight. If it's working properly on one device, but not on another device, you MAY need to focuse on the device rather than the source. Yeah, aware of that. Laptop works fine wirelessly on my own wireless network, work, and other hotspots CoxWIFI is slow on Laptop, Fine on Mobile If I connect to the CoxWIFI hotspot on my phone, it seems fine. Can surf internet, watch a youtube video just fine. If I try and connect on my laptop, I have issues. Data Packet loss, high latency, DNS server unable to be resolved, etc. What's the point in paying for the service if it barely works or only works on my phone. It can't be congestion (it's 2am where I am, neighborhood isn't exactly filled with alot of people trying to connect to it). Cox Throttling my connection between me and and a server Why does Cox think it is ok to throttle my connections? I have a server that I use for my work, so I am transferring files to and from the server to my computer. This morning I notice my connection is extremely slow, all but non-existent as it would take days to download a file that would normally take me 5 minutes. I check up on a generic VPN. Connection is fine. I spin up a Cloud VM to proxy through that to my server, everything is fine. I throw the VPN into Asia. Fine. South America. Fine. Europe. FINE. But a direct connection between my computer through Cox to my server? nope, throttled. Don't tell me there might be some problem with my modem. Or my router. Or possible ISP issues in my neighborhood. As I said. The rest of my internet is fine. I can proxy or VPN through a different IP to get to my server and it is fine. Is there a specific number I can call to get this fixed? Generic tech support just gives me crappy answers to reset my modem, direct connect modem to my computer, blah blah and obviously aren't listening or don't know what the issue is. Re: Data overage charges will be paused question Yes, we know. We are all wondering if Cox will extend it like other ISP's are doing. and Cox's implementation is a ** way. Most people's billing cycles do not fall on May 15, so if those of us are over the limit come May 16, we are then going to be charged for those overages. You should have just credited all accounts 2 months of unlimited data instead. Re: Data overage charges will be paused question Comcast has extended their Data Cap Suspension. Will Cox follow suit? and will they in a timely manner? Tune back in at the last minute to find out! Are they going to clarify the Data Cap suspension come May 15? Right now I am assuming that once May 15 hits, anything over is going to be charged in blocks of overages on May 16 till the end of your cycle? For the vast majority of people, their bandwidth cycle is not May 15. So for those of us who are already over the traditional cap on May 15, that would just sound like an easy cash grab by Cox to charge overages on May 16 till the Cycle is over. Not sure why Cox didn't just credit every account 2 months worth of unlimited data in the first place, but I digress. Re: Lifting Data Cap Covid-19 So, nothing about data caps as other ISP's are adopting. Way to go Cox, not Re: Is Cox going to compete with other ISPs by removing bandwidth restrictions? Source?as per the FCC: https://docs.fcc.gov/public/attachments/DOC-363033A1.pdf states nothing about data caps/data cap overages Re: Lifting Data Cap Covid-19 Source?as per the FCC: https://docs.fcc.gov/public/attachments/DOC-363033A1.pdf states nothing about data caps/data cap overages
