Over the past year, Cox has become worse and worse. I've had "Gigajoke" for a while and usually got about 350/35 on a good day. Last week it was totally out for several hours. Today it works for a moment and then it's 20 down and 0 up, totally unusable. My AT&T 1 bar LTE is running circles around Cox right now. I've finally had enough, so I downgraded my "Gigajoke" to the 250 plan and it tested out at 300/15 on my first attempt at the new speed. But now it is back in the crapper again. But at least I'm saving some $$ now for the same crappy speed. Just biding my time til AT&T fiber decides to service my area. Their fiber is running 15' away from my house, but they bypassed my neighborhood. Once they are here though, I'm gone from Cox!! Re: Is Docsis 3.1 more susceptible to upstream noise than Docsis 3.0? A tech is coming out today between 1 and 3p to check. If the issue is unresolved, I'll let you know. i was just curious about the differences between Docsis 3.0 and 3.1 for noise on the line. Why suddenly it's an issue when it's been fine for years. Re: Done with COX. Moving to ATT Unfortunately AT&T does not offer fiber near me yet. Most they have is the 18Mbps wired which is a hard pass for me. Otherwise I'd be right there with you. Just switched to Docsis 3.1 and Gigabit last week, nothing but trouble since then. Tech is coming out today, so keeping my fingers crossed. Is Docsis 3.1 more susceptible to upstream noise than Docsis 3.0? I've been a Cox customer for 22+ years. I've rarely had any issues. A few years back, I had had voltage on my upstream and they replaced a cable from my house to the pole. But other than that, no issues at all. I had a 16x4 Docsis 3.0 Netgear modem. Was on the 300/30 plan. It was pretty fast, like I said, no issues. So last week I got the email blast about upgrading to Docsis 3.1, figured I would go ahead and pull the trigger. It worked blindingly fast for the first day or so, was getting around 850 down and 34 up consistently, no issues. Then it started dropping to nothing. Every day since then, still getting about 750-850 down, but only getting 0-10 up. It says I have between 40-60% packet loss. Constant disconnects. Cox is telling me there is "noise" on the upstream line. So what changed between me having Docsis 3.0 and switching to Docsis 3.1? I have a Motorola 8600 modem. Is Docsis 3.1 more susceptible to noise? Re: DOCSIS 3.1 Upgrade Scam I'm in the same boat now. They sent me the email about upgrading to DOCSIS 3.1 and checking into their other plans. I did that, and checked out Gigablast which is actually $3 a month cheaper than the plan I was on. It was blistering fast for a couple days and now for the last 5 days, just constant drops. Getting 800-850 down and like 0-5 upstream, maybe... I show 40-60% packet loss. I ran diagnostics on my equipment, they are perfect, right in the sweetspot with Power, SNR on the up and down channels. Plus I know it worked great for a couple days, was getting like 850/35 constantly. They have been telling me there is "noise" on the line and techs are working on it, but then I check their website and they say everything is fixed. Now it's starting to effect my job since I'm working from home. Pretty ridiculous! Re: Internet out again I'm in the same boat now. At this rate though, I might get my (non) internet for free this month. Been a customer for 22+ years.
