When will the FCC mandated STIR/SHAKEN Caller ID validation protocols be operational? I know it is not operational because my phone does not display a "V" symbol for phone calls... even from my own cell phone to my VOIP phone number.
First, the FCC sponsored the Do Not Call Registry. Then the FCC rewards Nomorobo. You need to stop relying on incompetent morons for help.
IMO it's better then nothing.
The certificates will be interesting but we complained after the Registry, then after Nomo...and I predict the same after STIR/SHAKEN.
Commercial providers aren't the only source of telephone numbers. If you're robo-ing behind a private switch, you could "certify" the legitimacy of your telephone number. I think this is how it works...I'm unsure.
The only effective way to control who rings your phone is to Allow only. That's it.
