Need to switch landline service to Cox. My modem has only one port (ethernet) Do I use a port on the router to plug in the landline phone?
Does Cox give out older eMTA's with lower speed internet plans? I thought Cox was try to inject as much DOCSIS 3.1 into the field as possible?
No I think D3.1 Emta's are standard now
That's what I thought, but I was trying to make sense of Jonathan's post.
Not true. You can get an eMTA in any flavor:
DPQ3212, DOCSIS 3.0, 8 × 4, Cox Voice, Preferred 150, (100 Mbps / 10 Mbps)DPQ3925, DOCSIS 3.0, 8 × 4, Cox Voice, Preferred 150, (100 Mbps / 10 Mbps)DVW326, DOCSIS 3.0, 8 × 4, Cox Voice, Preferred 150, (100 Mbps / 10 Mbps)TG1682, DOCSIS 3.0, 24 × 8, Cox Voice, Ultimate, (300 Mbps / 30 Mbps), WiFiTG2472, DOCSIS 3.0, 24 × 8, Cox Voice, Ultimate, (300 Mbps / 30 Mbps), WiFiTM3402, DOCSIS 3.1, 32 × 8, Cox Voice, Gigablast, (940 Mbps / 940 Mbps)
That is...if your Solution Store has a variety in stock.

I think you meant 940/30 Mbps. 940 Mbps upload is only available with fiber, and thus wouldn't have a DOCSIS modem. Good post overall though.
If OP has a choice, I would advise to ask for the TM3402. Gives room to grow and is a more efficient use of bandwidth on Cox's end.
I think they trying get every phone cusomer D3.1 there was also talk of dropping the 8 x 4 modems since end of llife
This talk may all be true but it's not really a "standard" is it.
