Same problems

It is so frustrating still, watching show on TV, screen goes black and no sound. It has been reset and troubleshooting so many times. It is beyond frustration. Will be glad to get out of contract.

You didn't ask for help, but here it is anyway.  That sounds like a problem with your TV, not the cable receiver.  Do you turn the TV off and on to reset?  Does it happen on more than one TV?

It happens to both of our TV's. They both about 2 years old.

What do you do to reset?

Unplug receivers and plug them back in. Modems and contour boxes were replaced. Same problem.

It's not a TV problem then, but not a typical signal issue either.  Normally, a lost signal triggers a "No signal" message, not a blank screen.  Could you be having power blips?  Do the house lights flicker?  If, by chance, you have a UPS, check its log for a power loss or power surge.  If you do have a UPS, plug your cable receiver into a battery backup outlet.
