Are there any IoT devices that can act as a cable box remote? Ex. IOS Smart device.iPhone. FYI. Searching on this leads to old, dead discussions locked threads w/ no answer or response. Woefully maintained and waste of time.
I was looking into this a few years ago. There are ways to use a mobile device as a Universal remote; however, the secret isn't just an app...but a mobile device equipped with both IR (infrared) and RF (Radio Frequency) transmitters. Apps can be free but transmitters will cost you.
You should first inventory your equipment for your transmitter requirements: IR, RF, Bluetooth, etc. What does each device support?
