Forum Discussion
A Cox Social Media Support Specialist said this about the issue today.
"I don’t believe a setting within Chrome is causing this issue. I was able to replicate what’s happening, so I’m escalating this on your behalf. Several other Forums members have reported the same issue, so I’ll include their information on the escalation ticket".
I asked about the ticket and another person at Cox said:
"The ticket is an internal without a number to share".
So, maybe it's being investigated. That's better than when Cox said this 12 days ago.
"There is currently not a way for our customers in forums to post an image. We do not have a way to process to walk you through doing it. It may be a copy and paste of the image, but we do not give our customers the ability to do this action".
Thanks CurtB...I knew you had an issue but I was trying to solicit other users so I brought this issue into a new post rather than answers to someones reply box. I use FF, but I tried all today. Something has to be in a forum setting or a patch somewhere. I'm here in SoCal and you are somewhere else, so my ticket to them was over 3wks ago. Since we cannot paste, maybe thats good so it keeps us from adding more stuff to our posts. The File Upload that is missing in the pull-down must be a key for someone.

@ekhawaii It doesn't seem like a lot pf progress is being made toward resolving this issue of why some users are unable to post an image and/or a file containing an image in the Cox Forums. It's not a high priority for Cox, but it would be nice to get a status update. What's being done? When is the estimated time for a fix to be completed?
I found the following quote in this Cox website that indicated users should be able to post images in Forums. "You can use the text formatting tools at the top of the Description area to add bolding, italics, emoticons, images, and other formatting to your post".
However, Forum screen shots at that Cox website show a different web page design than the Forum web pages I see. There's also the question of why the "Insert" > "Insert image/video/file" > "From" > "File Upload" function isn't available to all Forum users. It would appear there may be more than one version of this website in use, even if the website described above is now obsolete and has been replaced.
Would someone who is able to post images in the Cox Forums please review the Cox website at the above link and post back if it does accurately describe the Forum web pages you see here? Either way, would you also post a screen shot of this page so that we can see what you see?
Thanks.

CurtB and WiderM, yes I too see the same image that WiderM posted of the Forum page...including the lightning bolt with items not read.. I like using this pulldown cause it gets me to the current post....I use to scroll to find....Anyway, I believe what CurtB and myself and I'm sure many others that are not commenting is caused by the Reply box and the Insert pulldown not containing the correct configuration. When you select Insert then Insert Image/video/file the From box only contains 2 entries [Web (URL) and Community (Search)]. I believe that everyone that can post images, like WiderM have a 3rd option called "File Upload." Ours do not. Now what this has to do with Copy/paste clipboard type inserts, well maybe its a sort of a file...rather than one located in my file folders.
Now here is the curious....CurtB, if you follow the above and verify your setup then go to the your userid at the top and pick Profile. If you then select Activity, pick a recent reply of your then go down into the Insert....I see File Upload as the 3rd entry there. But none on the main Reply box outside. Now, I can do text copy/paste with no problem, just Images.
For quick image postings, like pingplotter, speedtest, modem results etc, I found the SnipIt Window tool (shortcut Winlogo-shift-s) works great to allow a window selection of a selected area of the screen that needs image post. Image is clip and you can just use the RT mouse and Paste into the Reply box or to any other document or Email. I've also used Firefox extensions that allow image capture to clipboard/file/print like Nimbus and Awesome Screenshot...many others out there even for Chrome.
One problem with image insert is the dark black colors that some of the programs make it hard to read...like some speed tests and CMD line like ping or tracert. For the black background CMD...if you first do a Cntl-a on the box, the screen goes white, then cut and paste a white image. Another way is the change the property of the box to change colors around...need to play with this, but jot down the defaults first.
I got this from COX on the 17th...
"We received an update recently that we are still working on this issue. We will get it fixed or get you an update once we have more information. I apologize for any inconvenience this has caused."

Yes CurtB...my inquires received the same. I see WiderM is in RI and has no problem. I'm in SoCal and DO have an issue. I really don't think that Cox is "drilling down into the issue." It must be some version number of the interface or a bit not turned on. Since we get no other responses to this issue, I'm guessing that other users don't have a problem or have many other issues. I'm glad that you are still sending notes to them.

ekhawaii, have you received any more updates on this issue? All I've ever heard is "We are still looking into it but don't have any updates to share" (not with me anyway). That statement is sufficiently vague that I still don't know if Cox even plans to fix it.

CurtB...sorry for the delay, but my computer crashed....no I have not heard anything..I watch my emails on the cell. So sad, because it's such a basic feature and so many of our fellow posters have the ability. I guess Cox just don't want either of us to add to our few postings...I've never even seen other posters ever respond that they had problems inserting images like us. Hang in there, I'll go send another query.
