contour tv box suddenly changes channels

I'll be watching a show, and if I pause it for ANY REASON... then return to watch the show. Suddenly it can change to the previous channel I watched or a warning goes off that the channel is not communicating. And screen goes blank, then a one moment please in the upper left corner and the channel comes back...

It is getting annoying.
