The timer function on the TV is what turns the TV on in the morning. I saw screensaver settings on the contour remote box settings but none that disabled it. I really don't see why I need a screensaver when the TV is turned off. Support guessed it was a new "feature" that got upgraded but it conflicts with our TV and how we've used it for years as a wake up thing. I know there are options to wake up to but this is our preference.
Okay...it's actually the TV configured to wake-up. This makes sense because the TV powering is controlling its HDMI input. You may have different inputs connected, but the TV is overriding them.
What's the make and model of this TV?

Some TV manufacturers are now in the advertising business. For example, when you're in TV mode, such as turning it on or downloading an app, sets from some manufacturers are now pushing ads. It's awful but good revenue for the manufacturers.
These sets collect your viewing habits to tailor your advertisements. If it's only detecting Cox, it will only show ads from Cox. If you have other apps installed (Netflix YouTube), it should be showing those ads as well.
What bothers me is LG was 1 of the first to do this but you're only noticing it now. Did you recently connect your LG to your network? Without a connection, it can't report, tailor and download.
There are ways to block the ads but if you're using the TV to wake up, you may just not awake to a silent, ad-free TV.

That's interesting. This is about a 11 year old TV. Not smart, just connected to the cable box. We've had the TV on an old mini box for several years. Connected it to the contour remote, maybe, about 2 months ago. This just started happening about 3 weeks ago now. From what I've read and see on the main box, the current channel audio should be on when the screen saver is on, but it's just sllent.
