So it actually clicks from off to On just by resetting? Ouch. I thought it just disable in practice and stay enabled in the UI. That's a big time bug that must have something to do with their PBX. Do other features reset like call forwarding?

Mine doesn't change just by resetting the modem 🤔

Consider yourself lucky--COX must hate me specifically.

Exactly! Only Call Waiting is unkillable. All of the other features will stay where I put them through a modem reset. They've known about this bug for over 3 years but apparently everybody must like Call Waiting and getting interrupted during a conversation with a loud beep in your ear. Nobody else seems to have turned this off or else this problem is singular to just me (though the area rep I spoke to 3 years ago claimed that it was baked into the system and could not be changed).
BTW: Just for fun I tried to get support from the COX chat. After asking for a real human instead of the AI, I was connected to "Daniel F". It became clear within minutes of chatting that COX does not have any humans manning the chat service. Replies had little to do with my comments and the script driven AI tried to diagnose phone service problems (which I don't have) and completely ignored my actual problem. My modem was then rebooted remotely which, of course, turned back on Call Waiting but also disconnected my internet terminating the chat. Darn clever that AI figured a way out of my chat conversation by knocking me off the internet. When I returned my old equipment to the local COX store I commented on this and the employee confirmed that chat is nothing but AI. Lovely, even the script-driven below minimum wage employees from the other side of the globe are out of work being replaced with even less helpful AI.
