z modo camera needs 2GHz only and not 5GHz. should I split?

My zmodo cameras work on 2.4GHz and not 5GHz.  My phone is also on 5GHz.  Should i split the two GHz into two log ins?

    Hi @Jack Corey,

Yes, it may be prudent to split them up. If you have a Cox Panoramic Wifi modem, I would suggest downloading the Cox Panoramic Wifi App in order to optimize your two networks (i.e. giving them different names). The link provided here should assist you: www.cox.com/.../cox-panoramic-wifi-app-features.html .

really, your link says they need to be the same!!

      • To provide the best WiFi experience, band steering automatically optimizes which WiFi band a device connects to.
      • To enable band steering, the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands must have the same network name and password.
      • The use of the a single SSID with the Panoramic Wifi Gateway allows devices such as computers, tablets and smart phones to connect seamlessly between the 2.4 GHz and 5GHz WiFi bands based on signal strength and WiFi congestion thresholds.
      • Both bands and all the associated functionality, channels, and range are still available.

OP has single-band devices.  If OP had dual-band device, then band-steer.  If OP has single-band devices on multiple frequencies, then different networks.
