"URGENT" message regarding my devices being infected with a virus?!

How screwed up is it that I get an URGENT message purportedly from Cox telling me that one or more of my devices has been infected with a virus and that I *must* contact them immediately, when I do so -- via online chat: no resolution and the person tells me to respond to the message for "instructions." Then I call the Cox help line, wait for 15 minutes, and get someone who tells me my "Windows" features are infected, when all my devices are "APPLE." So he says, "oh, well then there's no problem." What is up with all that?!

    Hi Svwebster, the Zeus virus is capable of stealing personal information, including passwords and credit card numbers. To be safe, we highly recommend you perform a virus scan on your devices. Additionally, Cox offers free virus-protection, as long as you have internet service with us. Here is some additional information:

    What's the From address?  Any links in the email?  Can you redact your address and copy-and-paste the message?
