So you're saying that it was NV Energy repairman are the ones that called out sick for the whole holiday weekend? I live right near where all this was happening and I barely saw one or two guys over the whole entire weekend working out there, I don't care which way you slice the pie, but some company wasn't working with a full staff over the holiday weekend, and that's a fact, I guess eating hamburgers off of a barbecue grill and drinking beer was more important than taking care of their customers . Okay since you know so much how many of the repairmen called out sick over the holiday weekend whether that be Cox or that be NV energy?
What I am saying is very simple and clear. UNTIL the POWER COMPANY finishes it's work, and states that it is ALL CLEAR for Cox to proceed, it doesn't matter HOW MANY Cox employees are there or are eating hamburgers and drinking beer in their back yards, they cannot do squat till they are allowed to. I would draw you a picture, but I am out of crayons.

Here's the part you're not getting smart-ass, the power in my neighborhood went out for ONLY TEN MINUTES on Thursday July 3rd at around 5pm, then it came back on and never went off still till today it has been on. The cable stayed on for another 3 hours before it went down so if we had no power issues in my area then what do you have to say about NV Energy putting up poles if that didn't affect us? Let's go back to the hamburgers and beer, the Cox guys wanted the weekend off,. Stevie Wonder could see that Now go tell your mama you want some cookies and milk before she gives you your nap today

Hey guys, thnks for the info & opinions. No reason to get heated. I dont care so much about lethargic workers especially in 100+ degree weather. But id love to know WHAT happened to require this much repair. Ive never heard of a breakdown this wide spread. I mean this is a huge area, wtf happened?

I live by Jones and Harmon and I finally saw cox vehicles doing their job today. My internet went out last Tuesday right in the middle of the dust storm. Strange how I didn’t lose power. Its mind boggling that it took a week to see a cox vehicle in the area. I believe you when you said they were too busy drinking beer and eating hamburgers. They also had their thumb up their ass if you ask me. Cox has given me vague answers with no estimate of when the internet would be back up. If it’s true what darkatt said that only NVEnergy was allowed. Then cox should’ve told us that instead of the bs “our crew is working hard.” But it doesn’t matter to me anymore. I’m switching over to quantum fiber. Cox is absolute garbage.

If they are putting in new poles, and damaged a Cox Cable line, it CANNOT be repaired until the power company has completed their work. You may still have power, but if they are working on ANYTHING, Cox cannot fix the issue, until the all clear is given. I know all of this, because I worked for Cox, for 16 years, in the advanced Data Tier 2 department prior to joining the CAG.
Also, I like cookies and milk, and I am old enough to enjoy a mid day nap as well. It's no longer a punishment, it's enjoyable.

Wait, wait, wait, now you're speculating? "IF" they damaged the Cox Cable lines? IF ? Dude you really need to leave the bar and stop drinking. You have NO IDEA if NV Energy damaged any Cox lines, I live over here where it happened and I was out there three times over the weekend and I never saw a Cox truck, why ? Because they wanted that holiday weekend to eat their hamburgers and drink their beer, and nobody's going to convince me otherwise. I know what I did and didn't see out there. We had no problems with electricity at all since this whole thing started, the ENTIRE NEIGHBORHOOD HAD ELECTRICITY. They just didn't want to work the holiday weekend, yesterday I saw six Cox trucks out there, well of course, the holiday is over and they went back to work. Stop speculating, you're making yourself look more of a fool than you are

Hi, there. I'm so sorry for the ongoing outage. I'd like to help. Is your Cox service down currently? Please email us the physical address and any other pertinent information to Cox.Help@cox.com with your name and a copy of this forum message. I'd be glad to look into it for you.
- micktiano9 days agoNew Contributor II
No Chris, MIRACULOUSLY the cable service came on last night, almost like "a crew of repairmen" WENT TO WORK. And what are you going to look in to ? If Cox workers should have been out there fixing the lines IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD THAT HAD NO ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS over the holiday weekend ? Are you going to produce the Call Out sheet to see how many workers didn't work the holiday weekend ? I'd love to see that. I for one of many, make my living from the internet and I lost a bunch of money because Cox Cable's repairmen didn't want to work over the Fourth of July long weekend. Did YOU care ? Did they care ? OF COURSE NOT !!!! Because drinking beer and eating hot dogs off a barbeque grill is more important than your customers livelihoods. I live on Harmon and Jones, I was out there, no Cox trucks were out there the entire weekend in a neighborhood with NO ELECTRICAL ISSUES, got it ?
- Giantogre969 days agoNew Contributor
If Cox had to wait until NVEnergy cleared the area they would've told us that. But since they didn't tell us that its safe to assume that they chose to take the weekend off and have beer with hot dogs. No "crew" was in the area until last night. When the crew finally showed up the internet came back up that same night. So don't give me any bs that Cox had to wait until the power company finished its work. What we have here Mr. Darkatt is very simple and clear. Cox has a severe case of THUMB UP ASS. I don't pay cox all this money for them to have their thumb up their ass and have beer with hamburgers.
- micktiano9 days agoNew Contributor II
Exactly, they think that people are stupid, and will believe any BS that they tell us. Well MY EYES told me that there were no Cox repairmen there Thursday night, all day Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday, but just within hours of being there on Tuesday, the cable was back on within a few hours. Hmmmmm, what a coincidence that those were the EXACT SAME HOLIDAY DAYS. I hoped that they enjoyed the beer and hamburgers while people like me lost over $500 in income. You would think after the numerous times that I called and told Cox that I was losing money that they would say SOMETHING, ANYTHING to give me some pay back, NOPE, they wouldn't give me a dime.

Hello. I'm sorry to hear of the issue in your area. I understand how important communication and reliable service is. We value your business, and we would be happy to help. Please email us your “full” name, “complete” address, and a copy of your post to Cox.Help@cox.com for further assistance. Thank you!

You want to help Julian ? Then fire the workers that call out sick on holiday weekends when something like a major storm happens, they should be working during times like that, not eating hot dogs and drinking beer at a barbeque. EVERYBODY wants and looks forward to 3 and 4 day weekends, but things happen, and when they happen people like your repairmen HAVE TO GO TO WORK, holiday or not, and when they don't, you FIRE THEM !!!! That's how you can help me. I lost over $500 while you're guys were guzzling Budweiser's over the long weekend, well if I have to lose, then THEY should lose.
- Giantogre969 days agoNew Contributor
What I would like is an explanation why it took so long to get the internet back up. A "network-impacting event" is not enough. Why did it take a whole week? Just be honest and tell us your workers were too busy grilling hamburgers and drinking beer. A whole holiday weekend with no internet. When I called cox they offered me an upgrade for $10. Can you believe it? Then Cox tries to please me by offering a $26 credit to my account. Take that $26 and stick it where the sun doesn't shine. Still trying to get money out of me when I'm already being overcharged. $130 a month for 500 Mbps is insane. I'm getting robbed at gunpoint. I did some research and realized so many others complain about how **bleep**ty Cox is. I saw most switched over to fiber and it was the best decision they made. Fiber is going to charge me $50 for 500 Mbps. That's $80 less than what Cox is charging me. Already made the appointment and they will be coming on Friday. For anyone else living by Harmon and Jones, I suggest you look into quantum fiber. We are in the same area. Do some research and decide if you want to save money and get better service or continue getting robbed at gunpoint by Cox. If you decide to keep Cox just know they will be sitting on their thumbs the next time the internet goes down. This wasn't the first time they have done this and it certainly won't be the last. Good luck.

You are in luck. I like crayons. 🙊 I been using Gemini Live lately(FYI they recent secretly rolled out firmware microphone/speaker firmware DRM but don't get me started) so just fed it the link to this post and asked it what happened. Here are the results.
Here's why the power company (NV Energy) was involved and why it may have taken so long:
Downed Utility Poles and Lines: The intense winds, with gusts up to 70 mph, caused widespread damage to utility poles and power lines across the Las Vegas Valley. This directly impacted Cox's services, as their equipment relies on power infrastructure that may have been damaged or compromised.Safety Precedes Repair: Cox crews could not begin their work repairing and restoring service until NV Energy replaced the damaged utility poles and power was restored, according to a Cox spokesperson. This sequence of operations is a standard safety procedure, as working on communication lines when power lines are still active or compromised is extremely dangerous.
Extensive Damage and Restoration Efforts: The damage was significant, affecting a large number of customers and requiring the replacement of 70 poles, according to NV Energy. NV Energy responded to more than 250 outages across the valley. NV Energy expected full power restoration by around 2 p.m. on Friday, July 4th, but advised residents to be prepared for extended outages in certain areas, particularly along East Tropicana Avenue where the damage was more extensive. One user on Reddit reported being without internet for six consecutive days following the storm, highlighting the prolonged nature of some outages. NV Energy deployed 30 crews of four to five employees to restore power throughout the valley. They worked around the clock, prioritizing safety and systematically restoring power to thousands of customers affected by the storm. Crews had to work to clear trees knocked down by the winds.
Multiple Layers of Repair: The overall restoration process involved both power company and internet service provider crews. First, the power company ensured the safety of the area and restored the main power lines, then Cox crews could access and repair their own lines and equipment. So yea....70 poles. Didn't you see the poles on the ground? Were you too busy eating hamburgers and beer to look or ask google? It's easy to throw insults around when they make you feel better but it is difficult to be introspective and technically curious. The path of least resistance is not always optimal. Look in the mirror before you throw stones.
::edit:: For some reason it posted my post twice but then didn't allow me to delete either and when I edit either it edits both. Glad to see Kronos is buggy as always.

Nice job smart one. You figured out how to use AI. I'm proud of you! How does that answer our question? I did use AI and it couldn't answer my question. I also did tons of research and couldn't find what I was looking for. Who is the Cox spokesperson that said cox crews could not begin work repairing and restoring service until NV Energy replaced the damaged utility poles? I can't find this anywhere. Again, who was the "spokesperson" that said this? I don't want to hear "according to a report". I want the exact source from Cox. They have a bunch of customers who are paying money and deserve an answer. All we got were text messages that "understood our frustration" and "our crews are working hard". Cox needs to tell us why it took so long as I previously said. Did you not read our previous messages? If Cox truly can't work until NV energy finishes repairing the poles, COX SHOULD TELL US THAT, NOT YOU OR SOME OTHER RANDOM. Since you feel smart using AI, go ahead and ask which is the better option, quantum fiber or Cox? As I previously said, Cox was too busy with their thumbs up their ass. The other guy was right, they rather drink their liver to failure and grill hamburgers.

When you lack actual intectellence, it helps to use artificial intelligence. Monkey use tool. I am sorry you can't use AI well. I did it literally about 15 seconds. Including copy/pasting link from here to there and copy/pasting answer. Why is it the people who seem to know the least about technology complain the most about it?
As for getting a exact source...have you read any of the posts here? Do you see anyone else besides me and Dark posting here? Who are you asking? Do you see how the moderators answer? Did you think the moderators live where you do? Do you think they can use google better then you? Also, why is it their/Cox job to tell you that 70 poles is going to take a while. Are you one of those people who call Cox to complain when you don't even have power? How about you stay in your lane with the burgers and **bleep**.

How very smart of you to piss off Dark(black hat) and me(white hat) for no better reason then you're bored and after posting your general location on a public forum. I think I could find out where you live in about 45 seconds but I won't even bother. I just suggest being more careful poking the bear when you're in the lion cage. 😉Those panthers will eat your face.

Little baby got offended? You poor little man. Your responses tell me everything I need to know. Stick to watching minions. Don't make empty threats hiding behind a screen, you know **bleep** well you wouldn't follow up. Stay in your moms basement and don't hurt yourself. You can barely handle comments in the forums page, you're pathetic.

First, how do know my pronouns? Seriously though, what are you doing? You came here upset because you don't get internet. I get it. That sucks. But then you get a actual good answer and you reject it. They explain it and you insult them. I explain it and defend them and you insult me. 70 poles get blown down on your street and your posting here asking what happened? WTF do you think happened? Gravity. You think it's easy/cheap/fast to bury 70 telephone poles? Have you ever even put up a fence? Even if it's a typo and only 7. Heck, even if it was just 1 it can take a few days to get permits and digsafe, etc. In what world do you expect your service to work after such damage? Do you think technology is magic because you don't want to spend time to learn about it? Just seems like your getting defensive because I called you out for being a bully. Thing about bullies....there is always someone bigger. 😁

Hey, if you want to meet up and talk about this in person, gentleman to gentlemen, I am fine with that. You have no idea who you are talking too. I am smarter than you. I am probably less stable. I have more time and nothing to lose. I literally just had to put the toe tag on my father and you want to start **bleep** with me? BRING IT!
- Giantogre969 days agoNew Contributor
I'm not the one threatening to find a random in a forums page address. As if you are going to do something 🤣 I love how you responded to my question with more questions. What I'm asking for is has Cox publicly responded that they will not be able to work until NV Energy cleared the area? Do you not understand? Just like dark said, I would draw a picture for you but I ran out of crayons. I could care less about the amount of power lines that came down. Customers are paying Cox a lot of money and they are not communicating. What part of this don't you understand, if any? You got called out so here you go stating you can find me. If you can't handle getting called out then get off the internet you fairy.
- WiderMouthOpen9 days agoEsteemed Contributor III
I don't even have to insult you. You are embarrassing yourself. Did you think you could just come here and mouth off at people and not have anyone stand up to you? Is that what you are used to in life? If so, you are floating, and I am about to flush your ass.
Seriously though, do you know how the internet works? How technology works? DOCSIS or HFC? Let's have a debate. Proof to me you are not a fool...walk across my swimming pool. But don't try to threaten me or insult me. It's like a flea biting a Trex. It just tickles. I don't think you can even use crayons. I don't think you have even used your hands for anything but to poke buttons on your iphone. Do you even know what kind of phone you have? But please, tell me more about how you are a expert on maintenance engineering. WTF do you do? KMART?
Also...Fairy. Is that supposed to be some kind of gender or racial slur? Let me guess. Red hat? All I think when I hear Fairy is Tooth...or maybe the other name for a boat. I don't need to use small minded words to insult people. I like to have fun. 😃

I understand you probably didn't read the welcome thread or check the other posts like most of the idiots that post here. That's why this forum is dead. Also, Cox was bought out, so this entire forum and domain is going to be gone soon. Also, you just choose to change to fiber now? Why were you using Cox? You said it like you thought you were a genius for changing to fiber. I love how people set so low bars for intelligence for friends and people around them that they actually think they are smart. But maybe you are. Proof it.
