Why did you replace your modem/router and what did you originally have?
Have you considered buying your own mesh system? I hear nothing but bad things about Cox's Panoramic system and Pods in general. Are you internet only? Your best bet is to buy a separate modem and router and then run ethernet for access points(APs) with a controller. If ethernet isn't possible, you can use coax in your house with MoCA however that can be tricky to set up if you already use MoCA for your TV boxes. Mesh system is also OK, but only if you use wired backhaul. The main difference between mesh and APs with controller is how roaming works between the AP/nodes. However that also depends heavily on what devices are roaming.
I had an older modem/router that I had purchased several years ago. It was not allowing me to reach my contracted speed. Cox offered the Panoramic wifi modem router free for 24 months so I decided to take them up on it.
To complicate matters more I have two main panels in my home. The mesh units will be plugged into different circuits fed from the two panels. Will have to see how this works with the powerline feature.
I have ordered my own mesh system as I suspected the pods would not suffice. So I will try that when I receive the TP-Deco PX 50 3-pack set. Which by the way cost about the same as 2 of Cox's pods. Thanks for the input.
Yea, powerline is the worst kind of networking technology IMO. Depending on how your house is wired, it can be really bad. I suggest running ethernet or using MoCA. Will be much better performance, specially if latency is a issue. If nothing else, make sure you can return the powerline adapters if they don't work out.
Don't forget to put the gateway in bridge mode if you want to use your own mesh.
