Most of my emails disappeared and are not in trash

Several thousand emails disappeared from my inbox today with no warning . There are 65 emails left in my inbox. None of the emails in my sent, junk, trash, or drafts disappeared.

My account is not set to delete messages once they have been retrieved. 
The deleted emails are not in my trash account.

Is there any way to get the lost emails recovered. A representative at Cox said it is not possible but I want to double check. Thank you

    @Griefed, Are you using a third party program to access your emails? Also, are you able to access your emails at cox.com? -Allan, Cox Support Forums Moderator.
