Issue sending mail - receiving ok.

I'm using Thunderbird as my email client.

This morning, when I tried to send an email I get a pop up that says
" Login to server smtp.cox.net failed"
" Retry  New password  Cancel"

If I click on "New passwrod" it gives me the box to enter my password which has not changed.
When I press enter I get "Login to server smtp.cox.net failed" again.

If I click on "Cancel" I get a box that says "conected to smtp server".
Email never gets sent.

If I use webmail to send an email there is no issue. Same password used for webmail.

  • Hi snifferpro, what version of Thunderbird are you currently using?

Issue resolved itself as it was a Cox issue.  Other Cox users I talked to ha the same problem, but resolved itself later in the day.

Hi, I've been having this issue with mac mail for several days.  It tells me the smtp server is offline and continually asks for my password.  My password has not changed, it worked fine 3 days ago.  I've tried logging into Cox web mail and I can receive and send mail with no problem.  I also set up Thunderbird mail on a linux computer and get the same results.  I can receive mail without problem, but when I try to send email it tells me my password is incorrect and will not send.  Any suggestions?

    Thanks,

    Dan

Hey there, please try changing the outgoing mail server to 465 with the SSL enabled. That should do it. Please reach back out here and let me know how it goes.
