IS SMPT LOGIN POSSIBLE FOR NEW CUSTOMER

I am trying to sign up to send outgoing emails. I was told that you are no longer allowed to use smtp login through Cox because they do not issue Email addresses and logins since 2019. This is the first ISP I have not been able to set up.is this correct? Do I need a third party email provider like gmail to send emails? Sounds very wonky to me.

You heard correct. Cox outsourced then grandfathered email service several years ago. You are better off with a email service not tied to your ISP so you can switch without losing your email. Gmail, Yahoo, Proton are some good free options though Proton requires paid subscription for IMAP/SMTP access.

Thanks. After nearly forty years I was shocked. I just started sending outgoing through gmail. The oddest thing was how many tech support people I had to speak to find this out.

Most ISP have outsourced their email. Weird that Cox wouldn't know though. Maybe they aren't allowed to say.
