    Some questions;

    1. Will the full 1Gbps be supported, or will the service be "up to 1Gbps"?

    2. Will Gigablast use DOCSIS 3.1 when available? Or will it just be FTTH and Ethernet?

    3. Any info on what the installation process is like?

    4. Does everything transfer over; email, Mcafee, etc?

    5. Are all the rules for ports blocked and ToS the same for it?

Health, I can address to varying degrees but I will try to shine some more light on it for you.

    1. The 1 Gpbs service is a maximum rate, the full 1 Gbps will be supported and aimed for but more factors will take into effect with the higher ceiling.

    2. Currently it is Fiber to the home and ethernet for the home network beyond the fiber to the modem. There has not been any official word on Docsis 3.1 to this point.

    3. It is being rolled out for specific neighborhoods at this point and expanding from there, for existing customers it does require new lines/burials for the fiber into the home which can take a few weeks.

    4. All of the previous services tied to our  other High Speed Internet tiers are also tied to the Gigabit service as well.

    5. Yes, the residential terms of service and ports apply to the connection as well.

I live in the Ahwatukee area in Phoenix.  I read an article in the AZ Republic last weekend saying some customers in Ahwatukee Foothills have already upgraded to Gigablast.  Article didn't say where exactly in Ahwatukee the new Gigablast customers are located.  Ahwatukee covers a pretty big area.  I've already checked my address for availability on the Gigablast webpage.  Says it's not available.  How soon will Gigablast be rolled out to the rest of Ahwatukee?  I'm definitely signing up as soon as it's available!

When I follow the link in the top post  cox.com/GIGLife  I get redirected to Cox residential services without so much as a mention of GIFLife, is this indicative of it NOT being available in my area?

Yes. I get the same thing. If you change the Zip code to a area that has it, like AZ, then it changes.

  • I too see nothing about "Gigablast" when following the link.

Presuming that means no service in my area, but cannot be sure.

Hi Preston,  I clicked on the link you posted and was redirected somewhere else as well.  This should be the correct link, I copied it from the "GigLife" page.  Try this one out - http://www.coxgiglife.com/.  Hope this helps!

Hi, computers were not running fast enought for my use so i upgraded to PERFERRED INTERNET SERVICE, Then after 15 to 20 days noiticed this was to slow again. friend said check speed on speed check, org and the reading was download 2.39 upload 4.12. now am paying for 50mbps -- getting 2.39 so I call cox Tec. and we run a check and i was in the 2 .39 mbps. ask to shut down and plug in direct and reboot. got 60.2 mbps then we went wireless and got 59.8 / 6.46. now thats what i am paying for. checked later on when trying to show a short youTube and it cut out. so i checked checksteed.org and my speed was 2.68mbps again. then tonight I checked the cox speed under your web site and it showed 20.82/6.62 at 1;30 am. I feel I should get a refund for not getting what i paid for. Best Regards, G-man

First, you posted in the Gigablast thread. I assume that was a mistake? Might want to make your own thread.

Second, sounds like you were getting full speed without the router. What kind of router do you have?
