The reason I suggested you get help from Cox is because you didn't seem capable of answering my questions. If your not sure what model modem you have or how the coax is wired in your home, I don't see how you can troubleshoot with people online. Imagine going to a Car forum, asking for help with your car, but not knowing what kind of car you had. That would be a sign to me that you should go to a mechanic. Nothing personal. Just the path of least resistance to the solution.
