Installing a new modem for Internet

Read all I could find, and get it.

But, one question:

Once I connect the new modem, do I need to attach a LAN cable to my computer, or will the information go through my home wifi that's already set up?

(This would be while registering my new modem only.  After that, I get it.)

    @LindaDD,

    You would need to connect the modem to the router via ethernet cable for your devices to have wifi access. You would also need to contact us with the modem information so it can be added to your account. Simply email your full name, address, and a screenshot of the make/model, mac address, and serial number to cox.help@cox.com.
