If an apartment provided Cox internet service, still do I have to sign in the internet service?

I had moved from Korea to the US in 2016. I lived in CA for two years and moved to Las Vegas.

Now, I am planning on going back to Korea because my work contract ends soon.

So, I went to the store to return my TV and internet devices, and the staff said that there was no record of using the internet.

I had no idea why that happened. Later, I came up with an idea, which is my apartment provides Cox high-speed internet service.

It was the first time for me to live alone leasing an apartment in the US, I had no idea what the phrase means by the time I signed the lease agreement.

I just bought the modem and install by myself, and I had been using the internet with no doubt.

If I paid what I shouldn't, can I even get a refund?

I really want to know.

I came up with an idea, which is my apartment provides Cox high-speed internet service.

Did you confirm this with the Apartment Manager?  Does your apartment building provide Cox Internet access?

If your apartment building already provides (pays) Internet access and you were also paying for Internet access, this sounds like a double-billing issue.  Would this be legal?

Also, if your apartment building provide Internet access, why didn't the apartment building also provide the modem?

You need to clarify with the Manager if the building provides Cox Internet service.

It's kind of amazing you "blindly" bought an Internet modem which was compatible with Cox...without knowing Cox was the sole provider for your building.
