Flickering? Fluctuating? speed

I upgraded the fastest internet speed cox provided a few month ago.   Since a few weeks, the fluctuation of internet speed has been so bad. Whenever I checked the wifi speed, the speed detecter couldn’t get right speed. One second speed was good, and next second speed is so terrible. Back and forth again.  Do you know what is the problem?

Wifi is not a good way to test speed from the ISP because it is very dependent on the device, the distance, obstructions, interreference and congestion. What speed do you get wired? Also, do you have a white Panoramic gateway? If not, what model modem and router do you have? Last, what does a Cox speed test show you?

Having the same issues. When I play games, it’s obvious when the internet starts to drop because of the lag. I’ve also noticed inconsistent speed readings — the Cox app shows one result, and Ookla shows a completely different one, sometimes with a difference of over 200 Mbps. (Both tested on WiFi)

Definitely not what you’d expect from a trusted brand like Cox.

Gamers don't let other gamers game on wifi. 😊

Have you tested wired? Also, have you considered using your own router?

Yes, I’ve tested using an Ethernet cable, but it’s actually worse than using Wi-Fi. The internet intermittently drops completely, kicking me out in the middle of a game.

I’m currently using the Panoramic modem/router provided by Cox, and I’m not impressed. They never gave me the option to use my own router and modem.
