106 degrees. Wow!
106 is actually relatively pretty cool.
We've had 30 straight consecutive days over 110
17 days at or above 115
13 days at or above 116
8 days at or above 118
No rain since March
Our normal Monsoon is being blocked by a High pressure Heat Dome.
Chances of thunderstorms tonight and tomorrow are looking good. But after that we will be back to 116.
Oh, and my 3yo AC is only working about 50% for the last 17 days. The compressor is failing and a new compressor is on back-order 6 weeks. The AC company is supposed to replace the entire condensing unit per the Goodman warranty. They say I'm not a priority.
I hear it's so hot it's melting trash cans and street signs.
The plants and trees are all brown and crispy, I'm probably going to lose my Ficus Benjanina that I purchased at KMart in 1987, in a 1 gallon container. I planted it outside in 1997, and its huge now, but now it's fried.
AC talk!
The problem with Goodman, although the systems are very reliable if correctly installed, is most Goodman units are wholesaled to local distributors, allowing untrained installers to enter your market. This can lead to poor installation and frequent breakdowns since the units' functionality suffers immensely due to the slightest installation mistakes. Goodman unit are very intolerant to sloppy installs.
I wanted Goodman but after learning this, I didn't want another level in the logistic to getting something fixed.
It's not you're not a priority with Goodman, you're not a priority with the distributor.
I've used Precision AC for 15 years, purchased 2 systems
The first a Bryant Single Stage. The Bryant was fantastic until the evaporator started leaking in year 11.
The second in 2020. The Goodman 2-Stage. Yes, it was installed by a trainee. He told me this was his first install and had never brazed before on an actual unit. I told him his flame was not hot enough. So he got it too hot for too long which warped the cooper tubes. He did not know he needed to remove the old line dryer. The system has been opened 4 times since install. It leaked for 3 months and 7 return visits to try and address the problems. The condenser circuit board was bad from the factory and shorted out. They never could get it to work properly. Finally, I demanded a Goodman rep come out. Precision sent the GM and four "senior" techs out to be trained in my home. After that it worked fairly well, but nothing like my Bryant.
