If you want to downgrade, you would have to go to 500Mbps and below and get a DOCSIS 3.0 modem. I suggest the Netgear CM600. Stay AWAY from the CM700 and all 32x8 D3 modems as they have the Intel Puma 6 lemon of a CPU. Also, i can't promise this will fix your problem as it is unknown which upstream channel, if not all of them, is causing the issue.

Can I ask what area/state you are from? I would like to track what areas have the upgrade incase other people have problems too.
FYI there is a post from someone in AZ who got the upgrade. Is this relevant?
