I've picked up the signal in my neighborhood before and wondered way. I normally pick it up at certain public spaces. Looking at the map, I see a house tagged just up the block from me which had me wondering. I was thinking maybe Cox would give me a discount (free?) internet if I let them put an "access point" in my attic. I have ethernet and power already. I've considered putting one of the Ubiquity outdoor access points up there but not much point given the number of hubs I already have.

I don't think Cox would allow you to put up one of their Hotspots without a captive portal explaining the TOS. See here for instructions on using a captive portal. Even if you had that, you would need some way of verifying Cox username passwords without capturing them. What would be really bad is if you made a device that looked and acted like a Cox hotspot and used it to steal username/passwords. Not saying you would ever do such a thing, just saying why Cox would be against it. Fun idea though. 👍

I wouldn't mind if you honestly disagreed with something I said and made a reply to it. Also I don't think you should be able to mark your own statement as the answer. You should be able to "suggest" it as the answer, but not marked it solved.

Appears resolved unless OP soon duplicates problem.

Point system is broken IMO. Though Bruce seems to have the most points so I bet he likes it. 😁
BTW, thanks for sticking around and helping on the forum. It's good to have some new brain power around here.

So it seems null is thumbing down all my comments for no reason. Someone must not have a life.

I saw that earlier. I didn't think it was a very constructive behavior.

They haven't helped a bit on this forum either. They made one bad joke which they marked as the answer(which I thumbed down) and since then they have been marking my comments down. Troll like behavior if you ask me.

It's me!

Some people value arrogance and self-recognition. Remember when the button used to be called "Kudos"? I think the button was our first convo. I only use it to vote "up" and hardly "down."

I try to only +1 something when it is relevant to the OP. That way people can click on the +1 comment to shortcut to that part of the thread.
BTW, this topic is resolved right? I don't mean to drag it off topic.

I didn't realize anybody was keeping score here. I looked at my profile and found this:
- Your current reputation puts you in the top 1% of members. Members in the top 50% are highlighted within the community
I guess not bad considering I just got here.

I do like a point or achievement system...I just don't like this one. There are a lot of other productive factors to weigh for an effective system than just number of replies.
