Cox Internet test site consistently reports lower speed

There are frequent discussions about Internet speeds.  Most of the time, there's a real issue.   But, if you just want to see a higher reported Internet speed, all you may have to do is use a different site.

Here are samples from three different sites taken one after the other.

Google speed test   Internet Speed Test | Check Broadband Speed | Google Fiber

Ookla speed test   Speedtest by Ookla - The Global Broadband Speed Test

Cox speed test   Internet Speed Test - Check Your Internet Speed | Cox

  • This is correct. Sometimes, it is a matter of how busy the server is that's being used to test, or the geographical location or route. The faster results will usually indicate a cleaner test.

Here's further evidence that a single Cox speed test by itself may not provide a reliable report of your Internet speed.  The following speed tests were performed within a few minutes of each other.  Cox differed significantly from the results of two other sites and with the same Cox site from a few minutes earlier.

    Google

    Oogla

    Cox test #1

    Cox test #2
