Cox internet access for Windows XP

I had to put a new hard drive in my  desktop computer running Windows XP Pro.I reinstalled Windows XP Pro.  I then put the Cox installation CD in but it stops at "check minimum requirements".  I called Cox, but all she said was they don't support Windows XP anymore.  It worked fine before I had to install the new hard disk.  Any help will be gratefully appreciated as my computer is useless without internet access.

Microsoft ended support for Windows XP some time ago so unfortunately it's no longer supported by technical support either. The community of users here may be able to provide support advice. We can confirm that the support CD is not required in order to access the Internet. Assuming the computer has an Ethernet port with TCP/IP set to auto-configure you should be able to just plug into your router or modem and get online.
