How is it a scam? They might be able to do 200Mbps up soon but that is close to what a mid split can technically do. Peak of HFC technology as of right now. Granted, there aren't too many reasons to need 2Gbps down.
Scam? What's the price difference between 2 Gb up & down vs. 2 Gb/100 Mb? Is there a discount for only 100 Mb down? I'm sure you'll also have to rent something.

I guess the word "scam" is what threw me off. So you think it is a bad value? I can agree with that.

I wouldn't assume too many households would need a 2 Gb plan. This is a lot of data considering 25 Mbps for UHD. The attraction is for gamers. I don't game but would 100 Mb be good for few gamers and a house full of IoT devices?

I think people who work from home could also use the extra upload speed. File transfer, VOIP and audio/video streaming. Gaming takes very little upload bandwidth. Depending on the game anywhere from 1-2Mbps to 10Mbps. Only downloading large game files/updates require faster speeds and I think that would max out at 1Gbps on most consoles.
