You are forgetting that the speed is shared across your devices. With 2gb speed, you should be able to utilize multiple devices with very little slowdown on them. Like ExtraChrispy said, 2x1gb devices simultaneously, or you can have a couple of your tvs streaming 4k and use your computer without seeing the tv's buffering.
Has this been confirmed that the ports on the modem itself are limited to 1 Gb? What's frustrating was that the Cox tech that came out to upgrade could only test up to 1 Gb due to the limitations of their equipment. If a tech is going to come out to upgrade to 2.0 Gb you could think they would have equipment that is cabable of speeds that they provide. I've heard this from other folks in the forums that state that the testing equipment is only limited to 1 Gb.
