Yes i can, when i create a new account in outlook it always asks for the password for the outgoing server, which i enter(the new password), its like there's an outlook config file that needs clearing or resetting ?
Hi, there. I might suggest checking the username field for your SMTP server settings. If your username has the suffix (@cox.net), remove it and just use t he email prefix. Let me know if this helps.

Thanks, i tried that, it also fails. when i "add account" in outlook i have to enter "myname@cox.net" i cannot enter "myname" only.
I enter the new password, outlook says creating new account, and then asks for password for smtp.cox.net, and username and password i enter the new password.... this is where it always fails. i can enter just "myname" here but it still fails, its like the old password or register setting or ? is still being used.

I would suggest trying Thunderbird to see if it is the client(Outlook) or Cox that is the problem.

What's Thunderbird ? another email client like outlook ?
i have just also noticed that on my iphone my cox account for smtp.cox.net has unsent messages, when i enter the proper and correct credentials(with my new password) i get the error message
"the mail server "smtp.cox.net" is not responding. verify that you have entered the correct account information
