Whole house DVR update - screwed up

My whole house DVR has been updating software for about 2 hours now. Cox support says the update has problems and the Cox engineers are aware of the issue and would fix it "as soon as possible". Sounds like someone really screwed up this software update.

Isnt it nice to have Anvanced TV? NOT!! I am located in Macon, GA

Same problem in Kansas. We have never had so many issues as we have switching to whole home DVR. Pisses me off.

shouldn't this have been done in the middle of the night not day

Totally agreed, this should have been a midnight issue, not a dinner time/family time issue. Same problem in Norfolk, VA.

I am glad I am not the engineer who messed this up. Imagine how much $$ Cox will have to refund to all of us for an outage over the whole Cox system! Let's all be sure to ask for a credit on our bill.

Well, I'm in Baton Rouge, LA, and it's the SAME story here!! Over two hours of this. I did talk to someone and if she'd said, just a moment, one more time I was going to scream. She said it takes 20-30 minutes. At that time it had been an hour. They are going to have some MAD customers once prime time rolls around.

And Cox's iPad app does not have every channel available or I would use that for prime time.

I was told it is in fact an outage and they are working on it - with no Etimated time of repair.

Same in Northwest AR.  A rep told my husband that it's an outage system wide on DVR systems. My friend just said she was told to unplug her box, wait 10 seconds, plug back in and turn on.  System should reset.

Same problem in Port Allen, LA.  I have two host boxes and one client box.  It is affecting only the host boxes.  Been out for two hours and counting.

Has anyone tried the power off method of reset while the box is stuck updating?

I have not.  Anyone willing to be the guinea pig?

I haven't tried because the update says not to cut power. Wish Cox would make a statement on their web page instead of us having to go this route to deal with it.Is frustrating when it is knwn to be a nationwide issue. Least they can do is be upfront and deal direct with a statement
