I am having the exact issues as pasted below except I am in Ok. I had typed up an entire rant about my situation but deleted because you don't really want to deal with that or care I am sure. Point is that we upgraded service. Original modem we were given after upgrading we were told was on another account so exchanged for DUBW656 which has not worked properly since. Last night was final straw when couldn't watch a music video on Youtube on my tablet and look at facebook on my phone at the same time. Really?! $100 a month?!!!! And now being told need to upgrade modem and pay even more just to be able to have 3 at most 4 devices on wifi! And why would we not be told this and given the correct equipment when we upgraded?! Please help me figure something out. If Cox didn't have a monopoly on internet in my area would have totally cancelled weeks ago.
First, you "upgraded" my account by sending a new Internet modem, a model Ubee DUBW656 -- yet, on this page, < http://www.cox.com/residential/support/internet/article.cox?articleId=b2ec95d0-7ef9-11df-5590-000000000000 >, you do NOT have this modem listed as preferred. That may well be the problem.
Ever since I installed this modem, there has been intermittent yet consistent "DNS" problems on all of my devices that are connected to this modem/router. Both wired and wireless suffer from these DNS issues.
I have tried to bypass the modem's DNS features to no avail.
I am a very savvy internet-capable IT guy. I know how to troubleshoot. The DNS port/ip filtering is somehow wacked out on this modem/router. And, I cannot even change the DNS settings IN the router. This bites.
The symptoms are the DNS addresses will not resolve. Running nslookup and choosing different servers, always time out, when this problem exists. For the last 24 hours, I have had this problem, and resetting the modem is not working. I have cleared, flushed, registered, re-configured multiple computer devices just to be sure it was not a local problem. The problem resides in either the modem/router, or at COX in Omaha.
I am VERY unsatisfied with the quality of COX Internet, and feel that I am overpaying for such service.

Try a separate modem and router. Gateways are designed to be cheap and easy to use, which doesn't equate to being well designed.
Something else you can try is set google DNS as static on one of the computers. If it doesn't have the problem when others do, then it's Cox DNS servers. If not, then it's the router not passing the DNS request through.
PS. Why is this in Apps forum? Could Moderator move to Internet?

Because it might work better? Ubee makes the gateways, not Cox. I will leave support of the gateway to a moderator, but my suggestion is to not use them. Paying 5-10$ a month for a device that cost 25-30$ to make doesn't make sense to me.
Also, do you mean the Ubee DDW366? I can not find any model DUBW656. Are you seeing that printed on the gateway?
