Using usb stick w modem

I have plugged in a usb with files into my new modem. When i search my Network, i can see the modem, but when i select it i am asked for a user name and password which do not match my Cox credentials. How can i access the drive??? I also see a Readyshare on my Network but it has nothing....

What router or gateway do you have? On many,  the USB function is disabled.

Readyshare is a trademark of Netgear so you must have a Netgear device.  What model?  When you say Cox credentials, is that your primary account/email user and password?  That won't work.  The default Netgear userid/password on most devices is admin/admin.  Give that a try, it should work if you haven't changed the device password and you don't have a device where Cox either disabled the USB function or changed the default password.

Cross posted with your answer, the default userid/password for that device is admin/password.  Please give that a try.

Try to first see if the gateway can see the USB storage. For more info, see page 100-101 of manual.

1. On your computer, launch an Internet browser such as Mozilla Firefox or Microsoft
Internet Explorer.
2. In the address field of your browser, enter http://routerlogin.net.
You are prompted to enter a user name and password.
3. Type admin for the user name and type your password.
If you did not yet personalize your password, type password for the password.
4. Click the OK button.
The BASIC Home screen displays.
5. Select ReadyShare.
The USB Storage (Basic Settings) screen displays.
