Update From Last Question

Yes, I'm still posting for my mother because she doesn't really know the technical side of computers.

The service guy who came to our house told us that there were too many houses connected to the node and that Cox won't do anything until at least the first of the year. Okay, no problem. Alas, since the guy came out (all he did was switch out our cable box with a DVR capable one), we've been lucky to reach about 10 Mbps download and upload.

This test was with the cox speed test:

I understand it's "up to 100 Mbps" download, but when we're not even getting "up to 50 Mbps" I personally think we shouldn't have to pay the full amount.

Right now we have the DPQ3925 gateway. Is there something better? Which modem and router do you guys recommend? If our speeds don't improve when they fix the node, I'm going to try to convince my parents to buy a modem and router.
