Unknown Disconnection Issue

   There doesn't seem to be a solution to the disconnections that I and some are plagued with.  I believe and can only assume it to be a weather issue that happens when it reaches a certain temperature degree.   Since the box is outside and not inside that is most likely the issue. I thank the forums helpers that have assisted but I don't know what another visit would accomplish besides something worse for me. I already have less cable and already have master bedroom cable disconnected and it was advised to be like that so my internet would be stronger by one of the cox techs because he would have to put another splitter on it.

I just have to accept I'm in a bad neighborhood and that's what I get so either I should move(can't really afford to move though) or put up with it. They are obviously not going to switch out an expensive box unit/ amplifier whatever it is.  I don't even know a 100% sure that's the root of the problem but it seems it happens during the hottest part of the day when it reaches a certain temperature. Don't know what device would cause me to lose connection when at a certain temperature and making the frequency change but that would be where I would look first if I was a tech.  Maybe it's not in the budget or permitted through my landlord or city. My landlord wont say anything besides it's between me and cox.

I remember being told by a cox tech at my other apartment that people have problems with boxes outside that's why they put them inside now. To keep them cooler I assume. I believe I'm correct and nothing will be done to fix this because they don't have authorization to issue such a ticket. That's why we keep going in circles. IMHO

Well some get disconnected in the morning time. Maybe this isn't the root of the problem but then what is?

"I remember being told by a cox tech at my other apartment that people have problems with boxes outside that's why they put them inside now."

Those "boxes" on the outside are called Network Interface Unit (NIU) as are used for a type of phone service called Circuit switch. Cox seems to be transitioning to the newer type of phone service called Packet Switch. Those use the inside boxes or eMTA, or phone modems. The most common form of Packet Switch technology would be VOIP. I am sure there are alot of reasons to switch, but one simple reason is Arris isn't making anymore NIU's. I personally prefer Circuit switch because it seems to be less prone to service interruption and is powered by the pole instead of costing you money on the electric bill.

What your Technician was talking about is probably the fact the the cable line goes from the poll, through your NIU and into your house, so if you don't have phone service (or use a eMTA), removing that possible failure point can help. However, like modem replacement, it is sometimes used as a "well if nothing else has fixed it, lets try this".

I'm a little confused you like Circuit switch(NIU's) more than Packet Switch(eMTA's ) because they are less prone to service interruptions?

At where I use to live in my other apartments The box (eMTA) was inside my apartment. Here where I live now I don't have an eMTA inside. I just have the box outside(NIU) which you said they don't make anymore of those.  So if I'm having the issue with being disconnected how is it they are less prone to service interruptions?  Wouldn't it make sense to get rid of the NIU and install a eMTA?

 I have NO idea what you mean obviously and I think we are talking about different things possibly.

@Trikein

Yes we are discussing about something different.  This would be the outside box I'm talking about(the one in my apartments looks different though but the same I would assume)-

I guess they are called cable pedestals.

For the inside one I was talking about something like this it looks similar not for sure the name of it or anything had to google an image

Deleted Picture(Wrong image and I'm unable to find an image)

 It looked like that and it was in the master bedroom closet.

Oh I see. I did not know this was a multi unit situation. My mistake.

Who owns that equipment you showed pictures of? Because thats probably where your issue is.

Yeah I think this will be the last month with Cox for me. I was in a good game AGAIN and got disconnected. Why should I pay for something when I can't even use it when I would like to?  Not to mention they raised my monthly fee. Thanks but NO thanks.
