Ultimate Internet only providing 25-35mbps...

Is anyone else having issues getting the advertised speed of 50mbps with the Ultimate plan?  $109 a month seems EXTREMELY steep for speeds that I was getting with the Premiere service.  With Premiere I was almost ALWAYS clocking between 25-35mbps.  It was always above the advertised speed.  Now I feel like I'm getting ripped off only pulling up to 40mbps (very rarely).  I have had techs out on 3 separate occasions what have all done the same work, checking connections and redoing the last guys work.  They're are telling me it's going to be hard to get up to 50mbps because I have two PCs, two 360s, and one laptop.  I always got between 25-35mbps with this same set up on Premiere.  Our tower PCs plugged right into the modem don't get any higher.

I WANT MY MBPS!

I will not be paying $100 for the same service I was getting with Premiere.

Yes I have the Ultimate speed tier plan, and get 50mbps download. So yes you should be getting close to 50mbps down, if not a little more. But as with most ISP's they always list "up to" ??mbps. So they never promise a set amount of mbps at all times. However they know, they are offering them speeds, and there customers expect the speeds they are paying for. So you should be seeing close to 50mbps down regularly, and not 25-35mbps.

If you don't mind me asking what kind of modem are you currently using? Also what are the signal levels, and such on your modem? If you don't know how to look up your modem's signal levels. Typing 192.168.100.1 into your web browser should bring up your modem's page, and signal levels should be in there. One last thing, seeing as you are using multiple things such as pc's, and xbox 360's. Have you tried removing the router, and direct connecting the modem to one of the pc's and run a speed test? Because a router can always be a source for slower speeds results, and always good to remove the router to make sure its not the cause of the slower speed.

Well just stay in contact with the cox people who are working the issue for you. As for the speeds most ultimate users get, if available, ultimate will powerboost to 60mbps on speedtests. The 70-80 number is mostly bs as they lock down powerboost speeds on ultimate. When I was a premier user, I seen higher powerboost then i do on ultimate. Still powerboost speeds only look good on speedtest results, and only have a minor effect on the first 20-25Megabytes of a download which isn't long on the faster speed tiers. Anyways if changes are required on cox's end to get you your 50mbps download speeds, it may take some time to have fixed. Just have them credit your account for service your not receiving, until things are corrected.
