I've got a new TV & am using the HDMI cable from Cox Contour box to TV.. Now I have no control of volume unless I switch to TV button on remote & then adjust.. I use to be able to control volume thru the Cox Box?? I've tried messing with audio settings but hasn't helped..

Which Cox Remote are you using? Have you attempted to use the TV Programming Codes with the Cox Universal Remote? Here is a link to our website with programming codes.

Hope this helps,

My remote works.. I can push the TV button on COX remote & adjust the TV volume.. I also can control the Stereo volume using TV or AUX buttons, but when you're on CABLE button you can only change channels & control the COX Contour functions.. No audio control.. I've changed settings in output settings in COX, But still no volume control.. I can hear volume but no up or down control.. It's like the Cable box has audio output, but no control on the HDMI output?? I use to use the RCA outputs & it worked..

Yes the cable light blinks, but nothing happens.. Settings> Audio &Video> Audio Settings> Volume level> Variable "If your remote control is set to control your receiver's volume"..

Analog output is on surround sound, Digital output is on Dolby Digital (AC3), Dynamic Range is on Wide, & Audio Language is on Primary.. I've changed multiple different settings, but nothing seems to help..

I also have a URC 8820 remote.. I switched remotes with the one I have on another TV & it now works.. Now when I touch volume button, the TV button blinks, even after I'd pushed the cable button.. Try a different remote..

Ok.. I just took the original remote from new TV, and programmed it to the other room's TV.. Now I have both TV and COX Box volume control?? Like I used to have on main system before using HDMI cable.. WEIRD..

Did you adjust the receiver audio settings and find that pressing cable then volume controls the receiver, and tv then audio adjusts the TV audio?
